4 Westland Ave. Lovely, comfortable home and yard, less than a 5 minute walk to 7 mile beach.( about 2 blocks from beach). One block from Amtrak, Pier, Restaurants, Shopping, Park, Children's Playground, Tennis and Basketball courts, great restaurants and shopping. Fenced lawn area, lovely perennial gardens, outdoor spa tub.
We had a girls weekend for a friend turning 40! The place was perfect for what we were looking for... we stayed in, we went out, we played cards, we went out dancing... walking distance to everything! Looking forward to renting it next year :)
This vacation rental was great! The house had everything we needed and was very comfortable and clean. It was great to not have to bring linens and towels. There's a bunch of beach items as well - beach cart, umbrella and toys! It's within walking distance to the beach and Palace Playland. The nearby town of Saco has a water park, movie theater and bowling. Judy recommended a great restaurant nearby, Joseph's By The Sea, which was fantastic. She was great to work with as well! Would definitely recommend.
Our group of 8 stayed at 4 Westland from August 9 to 16. The house was perfect and had more than we expected. Kitchen if fully equipped with pots and pans, plates, glasses, special dishes for lobster, spices, freezer that makes ice, a table for 8 + another for 4. Big TV, Wii, Wi-fi, lots of sofas and cushions. Confortable bedrooms, lots of blankets and A/C and ceiling fan in each room. Washer & Dryer, lots of towels for shower & spa. Two spots on property for fireplace and lots of garden chairs. She gaves access to her shed wich contains among others 2 beach buggys, beach chairs, and beach toys. Even if we often ear police sirens, the house is located in a calm & safe sector, 10 minutes walk from the beach (a little hill). At the corner of the street, on a short walking distance, a little market boils the lobster for you; call before and it is ready in 20 minutes. There is also a small pizzeria nearby by walk where they also serves fried clams. Downtown of OOB, all the stores, pier and amusement park are also at a walking distance; pleasant to go in evening; stores stays opened late. If you like to be seated first row on the beach, plan to go no later than 10AM. We had 2 days of amazing big waves this year; body board are a must and don't hesitate to pay a little more because the cheapest ones don't last long. In resume, we loved our stay and would absolutely recommand that house to anyone. Hoping this comment may help you and that my English is not too bad. From a happy Montreal, Quebec, group :)
We loved it. We had everything we needed, including a dishwasher, washer, dryer, Iron,.. hot tub. Need I say more? There were paper plates, napkins we didn't expect. We brought extras and left them as well as I am sure others have. We felt like family, Truly. I hope we are able to enjoy staying here again next year. Wonderful owner, made you feel like you have known eachother for years. We will definitely be going back and staying.
This house has everything! The backyard is wonderful with a fire pit and jacuzzi! The beds are comfortable and there is plenty of space to store your belongings. Everything was clean when we arrived, there were even plenty of towels to use as well. The location is superb with only a short walk to the beach and boardwalk. It was a wonderful vacation. We would definitely rent this home again if we return to OOB.
Clean, well maintained property. Pro's: sleeping space, backyard amenities, 10 minute walk to beach and downtown. Owner very helpful and accessible. Con's: Kitchen a little short on pots & pans to cook for parties of four or more people.
OOB doesn't offer much for dining out so we prepared dinners at home, I.e. grilled hamburgers, steaks.
Best supermarket is Hannaford on Main St in Saco which is 10 minutes away (take exit 2A off I-195 W). Starbucks on other side of Main just South of Hannaford's.
Area towns (e.g. Portland, Kennebunkport) are a short drive away so this was a decent home base. In spite of very wet weather we enjoyed our visit to the area.
Portland Head Lighthouse at Cape Elizabeth is worth a visit. We also enjoyed walking on the beach at OOB.
Nice, quiet family neighborhood. Many additional area attractions, IMAX theater, historic Saco drive-in theater, Kennebunkport shopping, dining, Bush estate, several state parks, theme parks: Funtown splashtown USA, Monkey Trunk zip line and rope adventure course, Pirates cove mini golf, golf at Dunegrass or Saco/Biddeford country club, York Wild Animal Kingdom, Gray Wildlife park, Scenic Portland, Old Port shopping and dining, sailing adventures, Casco Bay lines cruises, Freeport, LLBean open 24/7, Prout's neck dining, and much, much more.
