We love this place. We rented one half of house. Each bedroom has it's own bathroom which is really nice. The beds were comfortable. The unit was nicely furnished and recently redecorated. The unit is not real large but plenty big for a vacation. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking utensils, dishes and glasses. The only surprise was there is no dishwasher, we all took turns washing dishes. The yard is really nice with plenty of chairs, shade and right on the canal. We had the best time sitting there fishing and relaxing. We caught a lot of different fish and really had fun. There is a fishing cleaning station with running water right by the canal. There is a gas grill and a freezer to put caught fish in. We ate fish several nights and took some home.
The pool area was very clean and nice to sit or nap by, unfortunately the water was a little to cold for swimming, it will be much warmer within the next month. The two units share the outside areas which worked well for us, we had wonderful neighbors.
The rental manager; Jackie was excellent, we locked ourselves out of the unit and she had someone there within an hour and did not get mad at us about the inconvenience.
I would highly recommend this place if you want to relax and like to fish. Next time we come to the Keys we will definitely try to stay here. Duck Key is close to shopping and restaurants. We drove to Key West one day and it is about 60 miles which was easily doable.
We recently rented this home and it was perfect in every way. My husband fished day and night right from the dock and I lounged in the huge pool. We saw sea turtles and stingrays in the clear water canal every day. We grilled some fish that was caught. The house was super clean as was the pool and grounds. It was the most relaxing and peaceful vacation we ever had and that is exactly what we wanted. The rental agent was great too. There were no issues whatsoever and would rent this unit again. I highly recommend this unit
We recently rented one half of this duplex unit and found it to be exactly as represented on the VRBO site - outstanding! It was nicely furnished with all the necessary furnishings to make us feel right at home and exceptionally clean. The two bedrooms each had their own bath and were nicely decorated. One of the main attractions here is the outside area. A large well maintained pool is the center piece with a Tiki hut for outdoor meals or for just sitting under and relaxing. The dock area along the canal proved to be an added bonus - the fishing in the canal was outstanding! With wifi, cable tv, fully equipped kitchen (also an outdoor gas grill), the fishing and a pool - we found little need to roam far from the rental. This was our third time to visit Duck Key (our first to this rental) and certainly our best experience by far. We highly recommend this unit. The owner and manager were great to work with and responded immediately to any questions. We did not have any problems with the apartment during our stay. We will definitely return to this rental next year for an extended stay.
The place is nice and is as shown in the photos, however our second night here the plumbing backed up into our side. My wife cleaned the mess off the floors as we couldn't reach the owner or the property manager for a couple of hours. The owner did send a plumber and a maid out to sanitize the place but the owner tried blaming the problem on our family and refused to comp any of our stay even though my wife cleaned the mess and myself and the neighbor scowered the property trying to find the septic line to try to resolve the situation without bothering the owner. He didn't say thanks or anything and said possibly it was our fault the backup occurred even though the plumber told us the pipes are cast iron and more than likely stuff has been clogging up for some time and it finally just had enough in it to stop. So beware and hopefully nothing happens to you while you're there. Other than the owner it is a nice location and the fishing is great
Just got back! All past reviews correct. Units are cozy, spacious, updated. Pool and canal great. We cooked dinner twice on grill. Because place was so nice, spent more time here than originally planned. Front yard(canal side) has grass(other units in area are white rocks) and 3 nice palm trees for shade.Tiki hut for shade w/lots of chairs, loungers by pool, as does the beautiful greenery, flowers around pool fense. So glad we had great neighbors on other side of duplex. Neighborhood quiet. Duplex, yard, parking has lots of privacy, each unit even has private side yard.Beds the most comfortable I have had in a rental. So much room!.Canal side has big table to clean fish, big long areas to tie up boat. Only two wish comments: I wish the unit had ladder into the canal so could dip into canal. Other units around had ladders, so could jump in and get out on someone else's ladder(property). But not knowing neighbors, didnot do. Also, note to future renters: Unit does not have any beach equipment to take to beach. i.e: chairs, beach umbrellas, cooler. We bought and then left behind. We also bought toilet paper, kleenex, dish soap. papertowels, laundry detergent. Unit has washer and dryer!Owner and Jackie very nice and helpful. We usually don't go to same location yr after yr, but after spending a week at this unit, we are considering going back to this unit and the Keys again. Thanks for a wonderful, warm, safe, comfortable place to enjoy the Keys.
We had a girl’s getaway at this rental the first week in February. We were very pleased with this rental. The unit was clean and had everything we needed. The blender was perfect for drinks. The pictures are exactly as it is. The beds were even comfy or we could have been so tired we didn’t notice if they weren’t. It was nice to have two bathrooms for 3 ladies to get ready. The pool was wonderful, although a lot of debris would collect in it but our neighbor in the other half would clean it out (thanks). A little cold at first but if it wasn’t it wouldn’t be refreshing. The canal was clear but no manatee. The unit is located in a nice quiet neighborhood. Because it is in Duck Key it is in the center of the keys. A little drive either way would always find you something to do. A must do is see the Turtle Hospital, very interesting and well worth it. Also the flea market in Big Pine was fun, mostly Cathy’s Place. She had a lot of nice things especially the scarf charms. I would recommend this rental to anyone and if I ever return to the Keys I would love to stay here again.
