I bought my house (next door to the cottage) in 1964, when it was 160 years old (I am not 160 years old, however.) The cottage, called "The Barnacle" was completely rebuilt a few years ago and is furnished and equipped as I would want it if I lived in it. I love the area, because the beach is just a short distance away, the light house shines in the window at night, and in the spring and fall sometimes a deer comes by to see what I have planted for him to consume.
Chatham is a town which has everything. Two miles up the road you can visit the Fish Pier and see the boats unload their daily catch. A mile down the beach you can find seals. There are two excellent theatres in town offering popular plays. The restaurants are excellent. If you want to visit Provincetown, that is only an hour's trip. You may be able to catch a fish from the shore, or there are charter boats which will take you out for bass and bluefish.
The cottage is only a short distance to stores, restaurants, and places to visit, but is off the main road and is quiet and peaceful.
The beach is 600 feet away down a private path, and after a short walk down the beach you will find a large number of seals. A short walk from the cottage there is a marina which offers seal tours by boat - this is fun for kids.
