Relocated to Mariposa from San Jose California in 2000 because we wanted a more rural lifestyle. Mariposa was the perfect fit for us. We have a small family cattle ranch and enjoy showing and riding horses. We are involved in many different aspects of our community including various horse clubs, 4H and the Mariposa Fair.
Carol Suggs purchased this house in 2010
We purchased this distressed property in 2010 and spent the last several years on an extensive renovation of the home. Everyone in town knows this house and it was great having folks stop by while we were doing the renovations and asking us about the house. We are certainly proud of the work that has been accomplished to bring this little gem back to life for others to enjoy.
Sitting on the sun screened porch letting the sun warm you on a cool day is really nice. A little nook in the yard is also a nice retreat to curl up with a book or have a bbq with friends. The large porch also is a nice place to chat with friends. The yard has plenty of old mature plantings that go back many years.
We enjoyed our stay in late June. The weather was in the mid 90's most of the time so the air conditioning was very welcome. Breakfast in the screened porch was real treat.
The house has lots of room and lots of light.
Only three blocks to the bus for Yosemite (way easier than driving and no parking hassles). Close to downtown restaurants and the County Museum, don't miss it if you want to see what life was like in the gold rush.
Everything was great. Carol was very accommodating and even had a bottle of chilled cider waiting for us. The house was clean and well-maintained. Each bedroom had a comfortable bed and nice linens. A beautiful garden was right outside our door. We sat on the screened-in porch to have our morning coffee and our after dinner drinks. The air-conditioning was a great help on the very hot evenings. Everything was within walking distance in Mariposa - clothing stores, grocery stores, and antiques.
We ate at the cafe for breakfasts and snacks and then on to the fancy restaurants for dinner.
We went up to Yosemite several times and found the entry pass of $10 very affordable since it was unlimited entry.
We would most certainly recommend this house to anyone who is visiting Mariposa.
I have a lot of family in Mariposa so it was great for my husband and I to be able to stay right in town for Thanksgiving. The house was perfect! Beds were comfortable, the house was cozy, and we had lots of room to spread out and relax. I highly recommend this property! Thanks for a beautiful getaway!
Due to the Rim Fire, my wedding had to be moved from the Evergreen Lodge to Mariposa VERY last minute. We were so fortunate to find a few rental homes on VRBO for our guests. This house was perfect for my brother and his family and they were very happy with their accommodations! The location is great (right in town, walking distance to everything), and they were close to the rest of my family, the wedding location, and the south entrance to the park. It all worked out wonderfully and the wedding turned out better than we could have imagined! (Be sure to check out Butterfly Creek Winery during your stay, they are amazing people with great wine!) Thank you again, Carol, for helping us out!
This newly renovated house take you back in time, but with today's nice modern conveniences (central heat and air conditioning.) The house was very clean and had everything we needed for our stay. We loved sitting on the screened in porch relaxing with a glass of wine at night. Yosemite is a very scenic 45 minute drive away. It was actually nice to get out of the crowded valley floor of Yosemite and retreat back to the house for a quiet dinner. We both love to cook and the well stocked kitchen had all the culinary tools we needed to prepare a hearty meal. The home has some great photos of Yosemite decorating the walls from a local photographer. I would recommend this house to anyone who is looking for a nice, clean and very affordable place to stay while vacationing in mountains of Mariposa.
Just 45 minutes from Yosemite National Park, the town of Mariposa has a lot to offer for visitors. Mineral and Mining Museum, History Museum, plenty of home town shops and restaurants, Historic walking tour along with plenty of community events happening monthly.
