Lois & Doug Snader purchased this house in 1996
In past years, this Victorian Mansion was first built by a brides'father to be given to her as a wedding gift! Her and her husband lived their entire lives here.Early in the 1970's a couple bought the property and operated (for 25 yrs)as an art gallery. Then the Snader's bought the property to bring it up to modern standards and to share it with others,to enjoy the architecture & charm of times gone by.
As we entered the grand front hallway we fell in love with the magnificent sprial staircase that wraps to the third floor. we knew immediately, this was the property for us!
We came to this house with our 6 kids to visit lancaster and see the Amish . Even though we had seen the photos before it's unbelievable to see this house in real! My kids were screeching with excitement when we arrived just looking around the house! It's like sleeping in a museum!! We took great photos in the house with their old fashioned pajamas holding the lantern on the beautiful winding staircase.we all really enjoyed the jacuzzis after an exhausting day of touring .thanks Louis!
My three sisters and I came here for a girls retreat and had a marvelous time! The house is enormous, well laid out, and is directly in Amish country. Lois is responsive and prompt with questions and concerns.
Eleven adults came to Lancaster to see Moses at Sight and Sound. We stayed in this LOVELY home, which far surpassed our expectations. It was not only charming with it's Victorian charm it was so clean. The location is very convenient to anything you would want in the area.
Lois and Doug could not be easier people with which to work. They made our stay even more enjoyable by giving recommendations as well as providing a large assortment of pamphlets at our finger tips. The house also had a great kitchen, which made creating a meal for our group or a snack so easy.
We have already got a group together for another visit and this will be our home away once again!!
Our family enjoyed our recent stay at this lovely house. It is a perfect blend of Victorian architecture with an interior three level wooden circular staircase and quaint gas fireplaces in the bedrooms and modern details such as deep soaking tubs and a fully stocked kitchen. The location was perfect for seeing a show at the American Music Theater and exploring the farms and delicious restaurants in Lancaster. But what we enjoyed most of all was family time in the parlor playing games, reading and knitting.
Doug and Lois were very personable and friendly and even provided a written story about the immense oak tree on the lawn.
If anyone is planning a visit to Lancaster, they should treat themselves and book a stay at this house! You will be very impressed.
Thank you Lois and Doug for a wonderful visit. We hope to return!
What a beautiful house ! Everything was just exactly as described, clean, big, and the perfect location. With 9 women no one had to wait in line for showers so we were all ready at the same time to go shopping, We all were able to enjoy dinner together cause huge dining room. Everything was perfect! After dinner we sat outside by the fireplace enjoyed that very much. So quite and relaxing. The rooms were all large and nicely decorated and especially, clean. Couldn't have asked for a nicer place , thanks for a great weekend.
Our vacation in this Victorian mansion was perfect!! The house was spotlessly clean, very family friendly, and absolutely beautiful. Its spiral staircase was stunning. We traveled to Paradise for our daughter's high school graduation trip with our five children and son-in-law. The whole family loved playing under the beautiful (extremely old) oak tree next to the house. We relaxed on the front porch and enjoyed eating regional foods in the spacious dining room. Lois and Doug are just the nicest people! They felt like old family friends, and they told us a lot about the history of the home. They were a true joy to work with. The home is centrally located to all of the site's that we wanted to visit...Hershey, Gettysburg, Valley Forge, Philadelphia, Strasburg, and, of course, Amish country. Our family can wholeheartedly recommend this vacation home. In fact, we would love to go back for a visit again!
