'Tween Waters Cottage' sits directly on the sugar sand between the Gulf of Mexico and the Intracoastal Waterway -- giving guests the opportunity to enjoy both beach and boating activities. This single-family, two-story Gulf-front home has all the charm of 'Old Florida' and all the comforts of the 21st century, including wi-fi, 2 flat-panel high-definition cable TV's, and unlimited free phone service to the USA and Canada.
With 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, the house makes a lovely vacation, honeymoon, or winter retirement home for a couple with occasional guests... or for families and groups of up to 8 (9 with a high-rise aerobed).
You'll love the comfy furnishings and the thoughtful amenities, including a large gas barbecue grill, the Gulf-front picnic shelter for lunches on the beach, padded sun-loungers and Adirondack chairs (so you don't miss a leisurely sunset), a porch or deck off each of the 3 upstairs bedrooms, and the private dock across the street. It's easy to drop a fishing line -- or rent a boat or bicycle from the shop just down the street.
The first-floor den/4th bedroom has a queen bed (NOT a sofa bed) and an adjoining bathroom... ideal for folks who don't do stairs. The king bed in the Master Bedroom features a 2.5 inch memory-foam mattress topper -- it's like sleeping on a cloud!
'Tween Waters Cottage' is professionally cleaned before you arrive and is provided to you fully furnished, including beach towels, sand toys, bath and kitchen supplies, and paper products. Shopping, restaurants, and all the attractions of the Tampa Bay area are close by, but once the soothing sight of the Gulf and the relaxing sound of the surf work their magic, you will find it difficult to leave. This quiet residential neighborhood has no high-rise condos within a thousand feet. The beach feels like your own private piece of paradise.
Enjoy the water view from every room, a gorgeous sunrise every morning, and a brilliant sunset every night. You, your family and friends will make memories for a lifetime -- at 'Tween Waters Cottage.'

We both cherish our childhood memories of vacations at the shore. For Barbara, it was picnics on the sand and swimming in the Atlantic. For Dan, it was fun times with the family water-skiing and boating on the Delaware River. So, when the rare opportunity came to purchase our own beachfront vacation home on the gentle Gulf of Mexico with a dock for boating and fishing, we couldn't pass it up. Now we share our precious find with other families looking to relax and re-connect by the sea.

'Tween Waters Cottage' is only 30 minutes away from our main family home in St. Petersburg. This ensures we are nearby to respond quickly if our guests need us -- and makes it easy for us to use the Cottage frequently ourselves.
'Tween Waters Cottage' has a very peaceful, private atmosphere. No canyons of condos. No shared walls with strangers. The house is a rarity in our part of Florida -- a direct beachfront single-family home nestled between two other single-family homes. There are plenty of restaurants and activities nearby... but coming home to the Cottage makes you feel like you are entering another world... and leaving your cares behind.
I really don't want to share all the great things about staying at Tween Waters, I'd rather keep this slice of heaven to myself! We were pleasantly surprised to find the kitchen remodeled and new bedding in the King sized bedroom. Our family had a fabulous stay and plan on staying there again in the future!
Staying at Tween Waters cottage for the week was one of the most relaxing vacations my family has had. We had 9 adults in the house but there was enough space for everyone. The house was clean and well stocked. The beach was only a few hundred feet out the back door. The only thing I would recommend is either repairing or replacing the beach lounge chairs and repairing the side screen door. My college age kids also had a wonderful time along with the 5 other adults. We will definitely considering renting the house again!
Older home that is well maintained, well-stocked and very clean. At first glance we were nervous about the window air conditioners and wood paneling walls, however the house was perfect! The window air conditioners kept the home cool and the wood paneling walls add character that is hard to find these days. Our 5 kids loved the beach and the private access. There was nobody around us and we had a blast dominating the private beach on a holiday weekend. The house had towels, toys, and chairs for everything beach-fun! Because we have 5 kids, we did have to purchase some additional toys for everyone. There were several "left behind" bottles of toiletries, spices, cleaning supplies, etc... in case you forget something (convenient if you need something last minute). We did have to buy toilet paper before our week ended but CVS was close by, so no worries.
The kitchen was updated and newly renovated. The living room furniture was a little worn but comfortable. The bedrooms have their own A/C units and could be adjusted. There was 1 bedroom and bath on the first level, and 3 bedrooms, 1 bath upstairs. We knew the 2 bathrooms might be a stretch for our family of 7 but we managed.
I would recommend getting up a little early and walking to The Lighthouse bakery for fresh doughnuts...yummy! Scooter, bike and boat rental was just a quick walk across the street. Restaurants were nearby (we drove but you could walk). The neighborhood (street) was quaint and friendly. We never left the house on The 4th and could watch more than 15 different firework displays...GORGEOUS and MEMORABLE!!
I gave it 4 stars because the house was a little older and there were some small inconveniences like: no A/C in the bathrooms and it got hot (but you could open the window), the paddle boat that was offered did not work, the canoe was unusable, and the laundry room did not connect from inside the house.
I would stay again because it was priced right, and the kids had a blast and didn't notice the small issues.
Heaven!! I spent all my childhood in the 50's at these beaches every summer and this house and property brought it all back! The shade of those beautiful Australian pines was one of the best features of the house. Inside everything was just right with ammenities. Enough room for everybody plus the occasional visitors. We would recommend this house and would absolutely consider renting again. This back yard is what all these beaches looked like in the 50's. Nice to know some of this beauty is still there!
As work and life can be so stressful, a little vacation close to home was just what I needed!!!! What a wonderful, relaxing place.... The ocean side, cozy home helps escape the world and allows you to recharge your battery. The lawn chairs are perfect for a nap!! I never wanted to leave!! Planning for another vacation there soon!!
Dr. Dan's rental is an excellent place to go for families or couples. It's quiet, has everything you really would need on site. Our family has been twice now and have thoroughly enjoyed our experiences. Just wake up, stroll onto beautiful quiet beach and enjoy. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing vacation.
