Southwest Harbor Cottage Rental Photos and Description
Cottage, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)
Rooster Cottage has a detached garage and sits on an acre of land at the water's edge with a dock and mooring. The area is a quiet residential area within an easy bike ride to the town of Southwest Harbor (a little over 1/2 mile).
There is a Marina not far down Shore Road (Manset Yacht Service) where there are nice boats for rent (I have never rented from them, but I've never heard any complaints). Mt. Desert Island offers virtually everything for land and sea. There is nowhere like it.
Keywords: “Rooster Cottage” is a newly renovated & decorated simple cottage in the Manset Village of Southwest Harbor. Large windows and a deck extending the length of the cottage offers magnificent vistas of the harbor plus a deep water dock and mooring for a yacht up to 50 feet.

We had a wonderful time last year and are looking forward to coming again this year. We love the view of the harbor with the mountains in the background and having a dock that is deep a low tide meant that our friends could visit by boat without consulting the tide tables. There are few places where we can rent that have that advantage. The house is "Maine simple," but has everything that we need, including dishwasher and washer and dryer. The bathroom has both a shower and a tub, which is perfect for us. We share the dock with two really nice lobstermen so we don't have to pay rediculous prices for lobsters We can'tt wait to return.

We have been coming to Mt. Desert Island since the 1980's and lived on the Island year round for nearly 6 years. After marrying in 2004 and having a child 2 years later we now come up for the summer months to our house on Goose Cove. We are active in the community and my wife is on the Board of Harbor House, the local Community Center. We have other rental properties in the area and are well known by both summer and year round residents.
Mt. Desert Island offers us a wonderful place to do the things we like. We sail, tennis, swim in the lakes, hike the hundreds of miles of trails that Acadia National Park (3/4 of Mt. Desert Island) maintains. This is our summer life and where we want our daughter to grow up during the summers. I have older children who also come up for extended stays.
We actually do not live on this property, but to describe the benefits of this property is much like describing MDI (Mt. desert Island). This property is unique in that there is a deep water dock that will accommodate sailboats at mean low water and a mooring weighted for 45'+ boats. I have a 36' sailboat drawing 5 feet and have on occasion left it there overnight without any thought of it touching bottom. If you are concerned, call me and I will provide exact depths. Since the tides run 10 plus feet, most boat owners leave their boats on moorings even if they have deep water at their float. This house comes with a heavy mooring. You do share the dock with two lobstermen who will sell you lobsters direct. Here you will truly get a taste of Maine in a modern setting.
