Our very private and quiet family cottage is situated on a combination of rocky and sandy shoreline at the south end of beautiful Heney Lake in the upper Gatineau. We are an easy 60 minute drive from the heart of Ottawa, the nation's capital city and its many attractions.
Heney Lake is a 9-mile long, 2-mile wide very quiet spring-fed lake where you will experience breathtaking sunsets and an abundance of wildlife all year round. If you are a sports enthusiast you will find Heney Lake ideal for fishing, snorkelling, kite and wake boarding, sailing, kayaking, canoeing, rock jumping, swimming and a range of other activities. If you are an armchair adventurer you will enjoy reading from your comfortable lake or beachside Adirondack chair or photographing those at play from one of several decks that front the lake. Cell phone service is generally reliable from most carriers and satellite TV is provided.
Mont Ste Marie is just 10 minutes away, offering a 9 hole golf course and clubhouse facilities in summertime. There are also restaurants and convenience retail stores within 10 minutes' drive.
Our cottage is fully winterized and heated electrically and Heney Lake in the winter is a magical place where, when you fall into your cozy bed tired from a day of snowshoeing in the forest across the road, downhill or cross-country skiing at nearby Mont Ste Marie, you will gaze through the window at more stars than you ever thought the sky could hold.
Our lakefront haven is a 2-level building with room for your whole family. The main level has new hardwood floors throughout except for carpeting in the Master Bedroom. The fully-equipped kitchen includes a refrigerator/freezer, microwave, stove, dishwasher, coffee-maker, water cooler, and all cutlery, dishes, etc required for your group. A large round table in the eating area is perfect for family dinners indoors. In the living room there are two sofas, a coffee table and end tables. Lamps provide ample light for evening readers and there is a large LCD TV on the wall, with a DVD player for those who prefer to turn on a movie. The views up and across the lake are spectacular from the entire living area as windows run the length of the waterfront side of the cottage.
You will wake up to a magnificent view in the main-floor master bedroom which is comfortable with wall-to-wall carpeting, a king-size bed equipped with linens, night tables and bedside reading lamps. There is a closet and bureau for storage and walk-out access to the private south-side deck which is a sunny spot to watch children at play in the adjacent field or to catch some spring rays after a day on the slopes. A second bedroom on the main floor is equipped with a Captain's bed (double on the bottom, single on the top). The bathroom is also on the main floor and you will enjoy a new sink/vanity/shower/toilet and our supply of linens.
The upstairs of our guest cottage is one large room with a queen-size bed and adjacent sitting area. Your kids will love playing up here and there is a second TV and DVD player for rainy days or for those nights when you want to enjoy a romantic dinner but still be close to your children.
On the lake side of our cottage you will find expansive multi-level decks for your privacy and enjoyment. There is a large round picnic table on the upper deck for family dining and deck furniture that you are free to move around as you like. For those who prefer to do their cooking outdoors there is a gas barbeque on the upper deck and an outdoor fireplace perfect for singsongs and s'mores on the grassy area close to the lakeshore. From the water-level decks, there is almost complete privacy with no adjacent homes within sight.
A gentle set of stone stairs leads to the sandy beach that slopes gradually into the water - perfect for children or for launching the canoe which is included with your rental (waiver). Lifejackets, paddles, and marine safety kit are provided. Adjacent to approximately 1,000 square feet of waterside decks is our 350 square-foot dock with bumpers and dock whips which can accommodate a boat up to 25 feet long. A private boat launch is available just down the quiet road from the cottage. There is ample driveway parking for your car/truck/boat. For our guests who do not have their own motorboat, we are pleased to rent you a 14-foot aluminium boat with 15HP motor for an additional fee (weekly rental/Pleasurecraft Operator's License Required).
A playing field provides room for running around, flying a kite and throwing a Frisbee or ball.
We take pride in our guest cottage and we work hard to provide you with the vacation you want - whether that be a week away with your children or a romantic getaway with your partner. Our cottage is cozy, well equipped, and very comfortable and we hope you will feel at home during your stay with us. We want you to love our place as much as we do and return to your world relaxed and rested.

As an Ottawa-born child and a teenager I spent summer holidays and weekends at our family cottage on Heney Lake. In the winter months we skiied and tubed on the slopes of Mont Ste Marie and as a teenager I worked for the MSM ski school.
Today, my career in the resort development business demands that I spend a significant amount of time travelling the world. I have a wife and six children and time together is precious. We bought our own cottage on this lake in 2007 and spend as much time up there as possible. It is our getaway and our place to be together with family and friends. In short: this lake and this region is in my blood! We hope you will enjoy the peacefulness and activities of Heney Lake and the region as much as we do!
For those who enjoy skiing at Mont Ste Marie, we are just 12 minutes away on a well-maintained and sanded municipal road. Enjoy skating/sledding/cross-country skiing/snowshoeing and nature watching right at your door.
Access to nearby lakes from cottage, boat launch with access to Gatineau River nearby, jumping/diving rocks, incredible sunsets, municipal beach (water access only) on the lake.
