Our family began vacationing on the Cape 9 years ago when we rented a beach cottage in Truro as we planned our wedding. We fell in love with the Cape's relaxed atmosphere, wonderful food and all of the activities from whale watching to tennis to kayaking. What's not to love?
3 kids and almost 10 years later we drive up here during all seasons to enjoy Chatham's beauty: the fall's cranberry harvest, traditional Thanksgiving, New Year's First Night and miraculous spring. But of course summers are when Chatham comes alive and we take advantage of the sun and the beaches and we play outside like little kids, riding our bikes, partaking in beach yoga and fishing. Nothing wraps up an active day like a good bowl of chowder from The Squire or a fresh shellfish from Chatham Fish and Lobster!
Maria Squilanti purchased this house in 2010
From the time we began coming up to Cape Cod in 2000, we dreamed of owning a little piece of this heaven on earth. Last summer, we happened on this cottage while on a walk in Hardings Hills. We almost missed it but for the 'For Sale' sign out front. The house was dark and in desperate need of updating but it had a great layout and an excellent location. A fresh coat of paint, a kitchen renovation and refinished floors transformed this dark house into a cheery family vacation home.
The best part of 41 Bucks Creek for us is being able to let the kids run around outside like in the olden days. They grab their poles and announce they are 'going fishing' or take off on their bikes after lunch for some exploring. They come back in before dinner, their faces red and exhausted but happy. We love seeing them enjoy the Cape as much as we do!
My husband and I take our kayak out to Bucks Creek and go exploring. We are always so active here. In the evenings we have dinner outside and wait for the stars to come out. We can see so many out here!
