From Hughes and JoDee:
'Our love and enjoyment for the unique and welcoming atmosphere that the Blue Ridge parkway and its residents offer reminds us, daily, that this is truly a wonderful place to live. We have dedicated the largest amount of our time to finding the most ideal location and producing the most comfortable and pleasant home for the public to enjoy. Furthermore, we only live a short distance from the property and are happy to provide any guests with information regarding local attractions, activities, etc. We are always happy to provide guests with a list of recommendations that we deem 'personal favorites.' This cabin is a wonderful choice for those who wish to get out and experience the wonder of the Blue Ridge mountains, or for our guests who prefer to stay nestled by the fire place with a good book.'
Enjoying the stocked fishing pond, the serenity, the koi pond, The fire pit, enjoying a glass of wine on the front porch overlooking the ponds and the quiet Blue Ridge Parkway, and most of all the mountain breezes.
We are pet friendly, we understand how important those guys can be! Also, now we feature biker friendly parking in a community shed.
I loved my stay at this beautiful cabin. The owners have done a wonderful job equipping and furnishing the cabin with everything you need. The beds were comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped. The washer and dryer worked well. Plenty of fishing poles and tackle to fish in the pond. It was quiet and comfortable. Coffee on the front porch swing is must with the wood ducks swimming in the pond. Highly recommend this cabin and its owers!
My father and I stayed for a long weekend here and thought it was spectacular. I have stayed here once before and was glad I had the opportunity to get back and stay here again. For about the same price as a hotel room, you get so much more. The cabin is situated on a hill with a view of the pond and within sight of the Blue Ridge Parkway. The cabin was very clean and tastefully decorated. Jodee was so easy to work with and I really appreciated the bottle of wine she had waiting for us. I hope to come back again very soon.
My husband and I chose this lovely little cabin as the place to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were so pleased with the choice! The cabin is nicely furnished but still has that rustic country feel. The view from the large windows was just what we city folks had longed for. The weather our first two nights was overcast, but the third night offered a clear and lovely view of the stars unhampered by city lights. We totally relaxed...relishing the complete silence. We enjoyed dinner at nearby Chateau Morrisette and, from a totally different perspective, breakfast at The Hungry Farmer. The Blue Ridge Parkway was our route of choice whenever we ventured out to explore the area, but we always looked forward to returning to our cozy and welcoming cabin by dusk. My husband grilled out delicious steaks for our anniversary dinner, and we enjoyed dining at the table beside the windows that offer such a lovely and calming view, while a fire flickering in the gas fireplace contributed to the mood. This was definitely the right place for us.
We stayed here a couple years ago and had a terrific time -- and this Thanksgiving seemed like the perfect time to return.
The weather wasn't ideal -- the Blue Ridge Parkway was closed -- but the cabin sure was. The size works great for my wife, daughter and I. It's super clean and cozy. The kitchen had everything we needed to pull off a Thanksgiving meal. Even with the parkway closed, and the alternate route a little scary, we got there with no trouble.
We highly recommend this for couples or small families. We're already planning to come back when we can take advantage of the pond!
My boyfriend and I stayed here for two nights after his return from deployment. We could't have asked for a better escape after months apart! Although we had less than perfect weather during our stay, the cabin was perfect for sitting by the fire with wine and a meal in the oven. Small but cozy, the two bedrooms (one downstairs and one in the loft, designed more for kids) with one bathroom cabin was perfect for the two of us. The rolling hills made for a nice walk when the thick fog made for less than ideal driving conditions. Our hosts were fantastic - the cabin was clean, the on hand cooking supplies made our pre-trip grocery shopping easier, and our host was quick to respond to any questions we had. The cabin was obviously pet friendly with spare leashes and dog treats. The directions were also easy to understand and we had no trouble finding it!
I would highly recommend this escape for couples or small groups, especially those who love the outdoors. The weather didn't allow us to enjoy the fishing, outdoor fire pit, or local hiking so we hope to return again to see more of the area.
This lovely romantic get-away faces the Blue Ridge Parkway, and has a stocked mountain fishing pond in front. Lots of outdoor activities are in abundance along with the well-known Hillsville Flea Market and gun show within a few miles, lots of wineries, and cool mountain breezes. A new local restaurant and bar opened less than a mile from the cabins, with weekend live music. Our cabins are also biker friendly with a large community shed with concrete floors to park your bikes. The Blue Ridge Music Center is at mile post 212, Meadows of Dan and the famous Nancy's Candy Shoppe at approx mile post 180, and Chateau Morrisette Winery at milepost 174. Lots of beautiful sights and views are along the Blue Ridge Parkway.
