I spent the month of January 2014 in this easy and fabulous canal house as well as last January 2013. I give it five stars. its clean, has everything you need and provides endless days watching the fish jump right below you. You can jump in a kayak and be out bird watching and fishing in the mangroves in minutes. The town is funky and fun with an array of restaurants that all serve fresh fish. My family including grandchildren visited and the layout just works well for family and friends. No fuss - just relaxing & fun. Your only 25 minutes from restored downtown Ft. Meyers and the Thomas Edison Museum & house. A real treat.
Thank you Joe for allowing us to stay in your home over the Christmas Holiday. We really enjoyed the layed back town. Your home was very nice, and the main deck off of living room was so pleasant. We ate many meals on the porch and enjoyed watching the Osprey and their young. My son in love brought down his boat and other than getting stuck (as the water in the bay is shallow) a few times he and my husband and grandson enjoyed fishing. All of us took a ride to Berts on the water for lunch on Sat. and enjoyed a yummy meal and a guy who played his steel drum. We put our grandchildren on the top floor to sleep as us oldsters did not want to make the climb up the stairs. Will tell our friends and we hope to be back again. So much to do and so little time. Jean
I have stayed here twice and the place is very nice and within easy walking distance to resteraunts and the down town area. The fishing is awsome. Redfish, snook, and trout were my target fish and I limited out on redfish and trout each day and caught and released several nice snook. I spend most of my vacations on the west coast and I will be returning to this rental.
This rental is perfect for a couple or family who enjoy a quiet place out of the beach areas. Matlache is a "quaint" village with neat shopping and good places to eat. It is within easy driving to Ft Meyers Beach and interesting places such as Pine Island and Sanibel Island.
The unit is clean, well furnished, attractively decorated, and well equiped. The owners are well orgagnized and provide easy to follow instructions for the operation of the unit. They also provide reference material for things to do on your stay.
Special "perks" incude being able to fish off a dock off the back door, 2 Kayaks avaiable for use and a quiet canal to use them in for kids, bikes available to use.
We really enjoyed our flats fishing experience. We had a charter captian who took 6 of us (including grandkids ages 6-11) at a time. The poor guy was either tieing on a hook, baiting a hook, or taking a fish off all the time. We didn't set any records but had a ball. JoeB will have names for at least two good family friendly captians to take you fishing.
Great place to stay!
We had a wonderful time, and the weather was great! Went to the piers at the park nearby and in Bokeelia also fished and caught crab right at the house. First time fishing salt water, the Sea Trout was delicious and my wife made some great Blue Crab cakes! Joe’s house is very nice and is just as described on Verbo, the sunset view from the balcony was awesome! The house is located a short walk from unique shops and restaurants. We explored Pine Island and took the water taxi to Cabbage Key for lunch and the beach on Cayo Costa. We also enjoyed shopping at the flea market and Shell Factory in Fort Myers. Joe was a great host and we loved Matlacha it’s very unique!
