My husband and I adore the area. We only knew the area from spending summers at our cottage in North Hero. We've only come to realize the beauty of winter on the lake over the last 2 years that we've lived here. Even just watching the wildlife is mesmerizing. I still get excited when I see a bald eagle standing on the ice or perched high in a tree!
You just can't beat westward facing lake front on a large bay on Lake Champlain. Every sunset is different! And the Adirondacks offer a spectacular backdrop. Make sure you have plenty of space on your camera for all the photos you're bound to take.
Even if you've exhausted yourself with outdoor fun, just sitting inside the cozy cottage and watching others play on the lake, be it frozen or open water, it's truly relaxing.
