Guestbook comments from the owner
This Review was written in the Lodge's Guest Book and this is what was said:

Our stay was from April 28th to August 10, 2012. This is our second year staying at Vista View. We come to the Lewisburg area every year. My husband's company does the bleachers and floors for the PGA. So we get to enjoy this house, the West Virginia mountains, and wonderful summer weather! We have enjoyed day trips to Snowshoe Ski Resort, Cass Railroad and the Natural Bridge. Take a cup of coffee and enjoy the mornings on the back deck....sunrise is outstanding! Deer with fawns are hear when we are. There are many other animals to be seen as well as a big variety of birds. Enjoy...we have!

Located in the Lewisburg, Greenbrier County, WV area. There is a breathtaking panaramic view. This is not a cookie cutter home. It is solidly built with 4x4 construction, a custom built cedar home with the interior finished with natural wood from top to bottom, 2 stone fireplaces and a hot tub sanitized with an ionizer system. The setting and ambiance gives you a perfectly comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. It is totally secluded, there are no homes that you can see near you for your privacy. There is a second cedar home down the road, also totally private to the other, but walking distance, that could be used in addition for large groups.

Located in the Lewisburg, Greenbrier County, WV area. It is central to events and tourist attractions, such as Historic Lewisburg, Lost World Caverns Caves, Organ Cave, Snowshoe Ski Resort, Winter Place Ski Resort, The Greenbrier Resort, The Greenbrier River, New and Gauley River for River Rafting, Bridge Jumping, Kayaking, Swimming, Blue Bend State Park for picnics, swimming, fishing, with wildlife and scenery everywhere.

WONDERFUL, RELAXED GETAWAY

  • 5 of 5
This was our third year at the lodge and just as enjoyable as the first! We love the openness of the lodge and it's scenic view from the back deck. The owner and her managers are welcoming and very accommodating if issues arise. This year we enjoyed the shops, galleries, and restaurants in nearby Lewisburg. Our veggie lovers enjoyed The Wild Bean's fare, while the rest of us took in the delightful lunch special at Stella's. It is such a pleasure to stay at the lodge as noted by our three annual stays; and we can't wait for our stay next year!!! Thank you Theresa, Matt, and Joanne for making our stay just as enjoyable as the first.

Next year will be your fourth year! I know its your annual time for recharging your spirit. The lodge is peaceful and relaxing and that's what it's all about. You can do as much or as little as you want. There is something magical about relaxing in the hot tub and taking in the wonderful long distance mountain ridge views. The small historic town of Lewisburg is such a pleasure to visit with its unique shops, boutiques and eateries. There is a lot more to discover. See you next year!

AMAZING LOCATION

  • 5 of 5
My group of 9 LOVED this home. The location was spectacular, nestled in the woods with and amazing view of the hills around the property off the back patio. The layout of the home was perfect for our event and the addition of the hot tub made our vacation even more fun!

Owner's Response: Thank you Rob for being great guests. I am glad you got to experience Vista View's great location with its panoramic views. I hope you enjoyed all the privacy and peaceful retreat to be able to refresh and recharge. Most guests find the home comfortable and perfect for their occasions, and the Hot Tub always makes it all worth it! Even though it is nestled in the woods, it is accessible to many activities and shopping. You can go to Historic Lewisburg, Beckley, head to Snowshoe, do some River Rafting, or visit the world famous Greenbrier Resort. Hope you can come back soon! This home is great for all reasons and all seasons!

BEAUTIFUL EVERYTHING!

  • 5 of 5
We rented Vista View Lodge for the week of our son's graduation from WVSOM. Everything about it was beautiful, from the drive up to the awesome "vista" once we arrived. The home is just as advertised, and very nice. The wrap around deck and hot tub are especially enjoyable. We hosted a graduation dinner for a large group, and there was plenty of room for everyone. The well-appointed home made entertaining easy.
Theresa was organized and great to work with. Although arranging this sight-unseen from Montana, we felt at ease about the entire process. When we arrived we felt welcome and once again at ease.
This home is a gem and a wonderful opportunity to experience the West Virginia mountains. The drive up is a little daunting the first time. You should allow from 40 - 45 minutes for the trip, and be prepared for one lane, two way traffic. Well worth it once you arrive, but not a place you run back and forth to town from.
Lewisburg is a lovely town to explore. You'll find fun and interesting places to dine, as well as some of the old standbys. The Greenbrier is a must see for those visiting the area for the first time, and Lewisburg has a great selection of antique stores to offer.
We will carry wonderful memories of our week at Vista View, and would highly recommend it to those who enjoy the peace and quiet of the mountains. Thank you Theresa for sharing your home!

Owner's Response: We want to first Congratulate your son for graduating from the fine Medical School of WVSOM. I know that the program there is very intense and a Congratulation is very well deserved!

Well, I am very pleased to hear that our "GEM" you found, Vista View Lodge was perfect and accommodating to your group. It is nice to know that I have been able to help in participating in making the graduating group more comfortable for their great accomplishment. It can't get any better than being there at Vista View Lodge to bond with their comrades. Yes, it is not right in town, but that is the point for your serene and peaceful retreat. It is well worth the, not so long, beautiful drive. The roads are small, but they are state maintained and very normal and typical for in the mount areas of all of the State of West Virginia.

I am happy that you have had a wonderful experience! Even though you are from Montana and so far away, hopefully you can visit Vista View Lodge again. It will be there for your welcoming!

Thank you for being such a wonderful group!

GREAT FAMILY GETAWAY

  • 5 of 5
My wife and parents had a chance to stay here on a weekend get away in the Lewisburg area. Amazing house, sitting on the porch in the hot tub on a clear autumn night watching the stars is far from the worst way to spend an evening. House is about 25 minutes from Lewisburg, really large kitchen, very spacious, and quiet. The house is up some fairly typical WV mountain roads- no need for 4WD if there is no snow, but it's a breathtaking view even heading up to the house. Theresa is excellent as an owner, communciation is great, fast and complete. She responds immediatly and had everything ready to go. I couldn't ask for a better rental situation. I would rent from her again in a minute and the house is simply beautiful for a family weekend away, plenty of room to be together or quietly on your own.

Owner's Response: I'm very happy that you had a enjoyable stay. Yes, they are typical WV type roads to the house and you don't really need 4WD, even if there is snow. The roads are maintained by the state and they keep the roads generally cleared. Not everyone that lives by the house has 4WD. I am also happy that you were satisfied with my service to complete the whole transaction. That is my goal. Always happy to have wonderful guests as you, and hope you can return in the future.

30TH BIRTHDAY GETAWAY

  • 4 of 5
We currently just stayed at the Vista View with a group of couples for my boyfriends 30th birthday! We had an amazing time and are already talking about coming back next year. The home is beautiful, clean, and like she said in the middle of no where! Which is exactly what we wanted. We stayed for 3 nights brought food, beer and activities! We carved pumpkins on the deck enjoying the amazing view. The pictures aren't even comparable to what this view really looks like, especially as all the leaves are changing. We saw deer and animals all weekend long. We also went Whitewater rafting down the Gauley and enjoyed bridge day, both an awesome experience. The Cabin is a good drive from the bridge and white water rafting. Although milage wise it's close, on all those roads it takes about an hour and a half. I would highly recommend this as a great getaway spot! Thank you for everything Theresa, you were very helpful!

Owner's Response: Oh, it sounds like you really enjoyed your time! Carving pumpkins on the deck and enjoying the amazing views. Yes, I have told many people that photos do not do it justice and everyone agrees. It's a colorful time of year in the fall, and you were there for the perfect peak weekend to get to see this, and Bridge Jumping Day. Isn't that amazing, how high that bridge is for these jumpers, who come from all over the world to do this? When you look down, people look like little ants. They only do this once a year, usually on the 3rd weekend of October, so keep that in mind if you want to be there to see that again. Hope you also enjoyed Whitewater Rafting as well. Wasn't it a beautiful drive to get to the New and Gauley Rivers? It makes you feel so alive there at the house between the views and seeing all the wildlife. I am glad you got to enjoy the experience. It's like no other. There are no houses near you, being so private, you can let loose, scream, sing, and you don't have to worry about bothering anybody. Ahh...the true feeling of freedom! I'm glad that all the infomation I sent to you on directions to Whitewater Rafting, list of Restaurants with their reviews, the video of The Greenbrier Valley, etc. was helpful to you. Don't forget, as a repeat customer, you will be issued a discount on your next stay. Talk to you soon!

ALL WE HAD HOPED!

  • 5 of 5
I am happy to write a review of our recent visit. It is a comfort in these days of Internet booking, to find a rental that is all the homeowner describes. This is a beautiful home in a lovely setting. The homeowner is professional and trustworthy. We felt fortunate to have found this listing.

For those considering, I would point out several things: There are two bedrooms on the bottom floor with a hall bath and upstairs, a spacious Master bedroom and bath and adjacent Loft area. The house is ideal for two families.

The house is tucked back in the mountains, overlooking a valley. The view is spectacular. Once you are there, you will not want to leave. The drive from the Interstate took us at least 40 minutes. A portion of the road is a narrow, curvy mountain road. Having read the reviews, we chose in advance not to go back into town during our stay. We were glad not to have to make the trip more than once. Bring everything you need, relax, and enjoy the unique experience of solitude.

Thank you, Theresa, for sharing your lovely home. We home to come again.

Owner's Response: Yes, it is difficult to feel comfortable in dealing with internet bookings. I am happy that you have peace of mind knowing that you could trust that I, and my property are real, and that the property met above your expectations. You stated that the house is ideal for two families, but I have had up to 4 families reuniting together. I guess it depends on how many there are per family. The whole point of going to the mountains is to get away and enjoy some peace and quiet, and also enjoy the home and its surroundings. Once your eyes take a glimpse of the distant and beautiful panoramic views and miles of forests, it makes you feel alive and invigorated. So you want to get all that you need, the kitchen is fully equipped, plus. And everyone should get that "running around" feeling out of ther heads and learn to relax. You don't have to worry too much though, because as soon as you walk in the front door, you start to relax instantly and you don't feel like leaving. The mileage from town to the house is about 20 miles, which is perfect to get away from it all. It seems to have taken you a bit longer to get there than usual. The speed limit to most of the road is 55 mph, but I'm sure you were enjoying the beautiful experience of the ride to get there. Going to town is a nice experience in itself because it is truly historic. I received your inquiry for next year. Your Escape spot is awaiting you. And thank you again for your wonderful review. It is a pleasure dealing with very nice guests as you.
