A variety of wildlife can be seen or heard from the wrap-around covered porch including white-tail deer, turkey, woodpeckers, red and gray foxes, racoons, cerulean wablers, black-capped chickadees . The wildlife is attracted to the abundant food supply provided by the trees, shrubs and flowers that exist in the surrounding woods including white & red oak, chestnut, hickory, mountain laurel and rhododendron.
The headwaters of the east fork of pine swamp creek are located on the property. The stream flows into the new river which ultimately feeds into the Mississippi river. After a day of heavy rain you can sit and relax on one of the many adirondack chairs or rockers and hear the stream flowing.
Shopping, restaurants, and other tourist attractions in Boone/Blowing Rock, West Jefferson, and Wilkesboro are within an easy 20-30 minute drive of the cabin.
