We have a romantic history with Jim Thorpe. Family of ours owned hotels and a bottling company during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. As sometimes happens, the accountant ran away with all the money, so we just get to look at our lost inheritance and think about what might have been.
Jim Thorpe was the first place we vacationed together as a couple and was the site of our wedding ceremony on a gorgeous May day. It's a place where our family toiled in the mines and in the sewing factory and raised their kids. It’s where every street had a bar and a church and people you dated had to live within walking distance.
Now, Jim Thorpe is about artists, adventure and the art of dining, all of which we believe in and support. We can mountain bike, hike or antique and then dine on American cuisine or attend the strawberry festival at a local church. We like it all.
The Owner purchased this cottage in 2010
Life in the big city is a noisy adventure, and we craved a bit of solace. It was the mountains that always beckoned, not the shore. Within an hour's drive, we are happily parked in front of our home, feeling miles away from the bustling life we left behind. We enjoy the secluded feel to the place, while knowing that we are just a few minutes away from grocery stores, dining, drive-in movies, hiking, and dozens of other activities.
Star-gazing while sitting on our back porch, after a meal made of ingredients supplied by local farm stands cannot be beat.
Driving 10 minutes to Beltzville Lake and having to choose between a dozen or so amazing hikes is a delight.
Running down country roads past horse farms and seeing the woods in their fall glory is beyond words.
We would be happy to write a review. We were very impressed with the decor in the cottage. We felt at home with the artwork on the walls and the the kitchen amenities. It was nice not to sacrifice quality appliances just because we wanted to get away for the weekend. The technology inside the cottage was perfect. This usually isn't even a category I would talk about because it normally doesn't exist in vacation homes. The directions [to use the technology] were clear and great for a rainy weekend. The wifi was also a must to keep in touch with the kids. Thank you so much.
Our host was great. The house was very clean and the location was just what we wanted. We will be back!
I cant say enough about how pleasant my stay was. Me and my wife loved the White Rabbit Cottage and the area. The cottage had everything we needed and more. It was cozy, very clean and private. The kitchen was great I was able to cook all my meals both days. Charles was great. He called to check on us and communicated with me via email promptly. I want to thank you again Charles for this amazing stay. This was my first VRBO stay in the Pocono area. And I can say our future trips to this area will be at the white rabbit cottage. There is no need to try other properties this one was PERFECT.
I suppose I don't have to say how nice this cottage is . Everyone has already covered that. We loved it there and, of course, didn't want to leave. Charlie and Margaret were great hosts and their restaurant in Jim Thorpe, The Stone Row Pub & Eatery was our favorite out of the places we got to try out. We hiked Hickory Run State Park and biked the Lehigh Gorge Trail and just generally enjoyed the area. I will definitely be trying to work a return trip into our schedule. Thanks guys!
We had the pleasure of staying at the White Rabbit Cottage over this past weekend and we didn't want to leave!.The house is amazing with all the contemporary high tech conveniences in a serene and calming location. Beautifully decorated in a Pottery Barn-ish style with high ceilings and tons of natural light, not to mention the wonderful added whimsical touch of unique bunnies everywhere we looked. We were traveling with another couple and there was more than enough room for us. The house has a lovely master bedroom with en suite on one side of the house and the other side two more bedrooms with a shared bathroom. The kitchen had everything we needed and then some. Just a quick drive, under 6 miles, to downtown Jim Thorpe and just down the road from Country Junction it's in a perfect location no matter what your interest is. The owners are fantastic too, very helpful with tons of suggestions for things to see in the area and Charlie even called on our first day to check to see if all was well. Since these great folks are also the owners of the Stone Row Pub and Eatery we had the pleasure of dining at their awesome restaurant and loved it so much we returned with friends the next day. FYI the Apple Pie "Moonshine" is not to be missed!! We can't recommend this fantastic, well maintained cottage highly enough....but we're keeping our fingers crossed that you won't book a stay because we want every weekend at the cottage for ourselves :)
We couldn't be happier with the White Rabbit Cottage. You can tell that the owners put a lot of care into the place and it feels just like home. I would be more than happy to stay here again and cannot recommend it highly enough. Great location plenty of privacy and still easy access to many great places.
My husband and I, my sister and brother-in-law spent 3 nights at The White Rabbit Cottage. My father lives in the Palmerton area and we travel there two times a year. The cottage was a great spot for our family visit! We love to be outside so a lot of our time was spent on the deck enjoying the view of the woods. We used the well-equipped, clean kitchen to prepare meals. Giant grocery store was an easy drive and a great place to pick up everything we needed. The beds were very comfortable and the bathrooms clean. The bedrooms are situated on opposite sides of the living area so for 2 couples it allowed for each of us to have good space. Charlie was so nice to work with from beginning to end. I have used VRBO on several trips and he is, by far, the best on good communication throughout the rental process. We would definitely love to return to the cottage again!
