In a wooded setting on a large cove, Ward's Cove Cottage overlooks a sandbar with views of the open ocean, islands and a lighthouse in the distance. Closer in, lobstermen check their traps, and feeding birds chase the outgoing tide in front of the cottage. No matter the time of day, the unique location, view and wildlife will capture your imagination.
This newer cottage is a traditional New England saltbox design. The interior is traditional Maine cottage - pine walls, ceilings and floors. The main living area, on the second floor, takes full advantage of the ocean view, whether you are relaxing inside or out. Four sliding glass doors open onto the upper deck. The cathedral ceiling and open floor plan provide a spacious area for enjoying your vacation. The living room has comfortable furnishings, a fireplace (wood provided) and lots of games, puzzles and books. The dining area can seat eight; the modern kitchen is fully equipped, including a dishwasher. There is a half bath off the living room.
The two twin bedrooms, one queen bedroom and full bath are located on the first floor off a central hall. All the bedrooms are roomy and have good closet space. The queen room has its own deck with water view. A thermostat-operated propane stove in the central hall provides heat when needed.
The cottage is in Down East Maine an hour from Acadia National Park. Here you will find a beautiful unspoiled coastline to explore, including fishing villages, beaches and spectacular cliffs at the Schoodic Peninsula. Closer to home you can launch a kayak, canoe or windsurfer in the protected cove right in front of the cottage, and paddle your way to the ocean. A short distance down the road is a launch for larger boats. There is ample opportunity for hiking and mountain biking as well. Brochures and a detailed Maine Atlas in the cottage provide ideas and directions.
