Quinta Escondida: the Countryside in Town and a Home from Home

Natascha's property was a fantastic place to have a relaxing vacation. The apartment was much bigger than we thought, and the gardens were fabulous with all the blooming plants and flowers. My husband used the pool twice after our long mountain hikes, and loved the chilly water (still only late October). One whole afternoon we spent reading in the two hammocks among her avocado trees -and lots of other fruit trees.
We wanted to stay in one place this vacation and found the use of public transportation to be very easy to use for day-trips. The buses come every few minutes, and we were able to use them to get to all kinds of places for hiking and a visit to Quillota, a larger town than Limache, 20 minutes away. No prepaid cards or complicated ways to pay for tickets, only gave the driver the coins for our transportation. Very cheap to take the taxis (collectivos) as well. They have set routes just like the buses, except they go many more places than the bigger buses. We felt totally safe on public transportation, and it was so nice not to rent a car. The roads are super - Chile has obviously invested big in infrastructure. We stayed 7 nights and could not have picked a better place as far as a beautiful vacation spot. Natascha was very helpful in every way and even let us know when she was running an errand in her car, if we wanted a ride to somewhere.
On Natascha's property is a yoga center where Rosa gives massages. My shoulders and back were giving me trouble and I decided to treat myself to one hour and 15 min massage. She has long training in this and knows how to get you to relax! Definitely worth it!
