Overview

Lake Toxaway Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

This luxurious mountain cabin is nestled in a hardwood cove surrounded by a babbling brook, blooming rhododendron, and landscaped with native plants. The cabin is tastefully furnished with mission-style antiques, has a wood-burning, field stone fireplace, and all of the amenities of a home away from home. A wrap around porch with outdoor living room surrounds the cabin---perfect for outdoor relaxation by candlelight while listening to the beautiful sounds of nature and a babbling brook. A Weber grill and stereo speakers make the porch perfect for outdoor lounging and entertaining. Inside is a large great room with a cathedral ceiling with hardwood paneling, dining table for 6, fully equipped modern kitchen, 2 sofa beds, WiFi, and satellite TV with DVD and VCR.

Originally a summer camp over fifty years ago, the property on which the home sits now is a private, family estate comprised of 66 mountainous acres with two ponds that are fed by 3 streams that originate on the property. There are two small fields at the top of the mountain that are perfect for playing games with the family and throwing balls to the dogs, etc. Gravel roads and trails weave throughout the property for leisurely strolls, short hikes, and outright bush-whacking for the brave hearted! A great place to roam through the woods, play in the streams, and have some fun adventures with kids! Structural relics of the old summer camp still exist----old stone foundations from the cabins, a stone amphitheater in a mountain cove, outdoor fireplaces, etc. make for interesting exploration as you walk the property. The largest pond is over an acre and is stocked with Rainbow Trout. An outbuilding that serves as a workshop/garage/party space with a large front porch deck overlooks the pond with a grill and patio furniture making the perfect space for relaxing while fishing for your evening meal.

This is more than a rental home --- it's an adventure!

Amazing wedding weekend!

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I recently hosted our wedding weekend here. David's property makes a beautiful spot for a wedding and reception and as an added bonus our out of town guests got to stay in the cabins. We chose to have our ceremony up a path in the woods that leads to an old amphitheater (remnants of the old summer camp that was there) There is now a beautiful laurel railing deck along with the original stone seating there and it makes a perfect spot to have a wedding. However there are multiple options of pretty spots on the property based on what size wedding you are having and what "background" you want. We held our reception in the outdoor garage and porch that looks over the pond. The new fire pit added an extra bit of warmth to what ended up being a chilly night. This is a great place to host a wedding or family gathering. The cabins had everything and more that you would need. The extra touches and treats in the cabin made you feel so welcome. David was a pleasure to work with and it made our weekend go by so smoothly even through the stress of a wedding. We would definitely come back for a family reunion or a quiet weekend getaway!

Great Little Mountain Hideaway

  • 4 of 5
My husband and I wanted to get away for a weekend of hiking with our dog and this place was perfect. The cabin was well kept, clean, and had all of the amenities you'd expect. I loved the fully stocked kitchen, and the nice note from the owner and local beverages upon arrival was a nice touch. It's not fancy but it makes up for that with charm and functionality. The location of the cabin is fantastic - we were able to go hiking at three of our favorite spots in that part of NC and hang out in Brevard. If you've never been to the Brevard area the owner provides a great list of places to eat and things to do - very helpful! Overall, though, I think our dog had the most fun running around and exploring the property. It was a nice getaway for us all - highly recommended!

We enjoyed our stay very much. David was helpful with our last minute rental. We found the house to be very comfortable, it seemed the owner had thought of every detail that we might need. The property is located between Brevard and Highlands which is in great proximity to many levels of hiking, rafting, horseback riding, sighting and other out of doors activities. I hope that we can go back and I would recommend this property to most anyone.

As so many people have already said, David is awesome!!! The cabin and the property are amazing!!! Stayed for a week and did not want to leave. Myself and my party had an amazing time. My dogs may have had an even better time. running free and just being dogs. The town of Brevard and the surrounding areas are fantastic! We will be back one day. Best time had by all!

Beautiful setting, pet friendly

  • 5 of 5
Property was as advertised. Clean, comfortable with the feel of a cabin in the woods, but with all the amenities. New upscale appliances. Wood and/or tile floors. Beautifully landscaped lower area. Azaleas in full bloom in May. Good location to visit waterfalls in area. Owner was very pleasant and helpful. One caution to older folks - you do need to be able to do stairs.
