We are offering our wonderful two stories 140m2 vacation house in the heart of Húsafell. It was built in 2007, is privately owned and has never been rented out before.
The house is fully equipped with all the luxuries and comfort needed for an enjoyable stay in the country and is as beautiful in winter as in summer.
Enjoy an evening bath in the outside hot tub, the starry skies and the occasional northern lights in winter. In summer you can also enjoy the midnight sun and golf at the Húsafell golf course.
The location is an ideal base for you to discover Iceland, it is only 1,5 hour’s drive from the capital Reykjavík and an entrance to the highlands of Iceland. There are many things to see and discover in the neighbourhood and you can make interesting daytime excursions hiking and driving. Everything was perfect!
Husafell calls itself "a pearl between lavafields and glaciers," and it's so true. The Husafell camp/vacation home site is situated in a black birch "forest" (the trees aren't very tall), but it doesn' t take long to get from this property up to a glacier or down into a lava cave. The little store in Husafell has all the basics, and there are several sort-of-marked trails around the property that lead to wonderful surprises. The house itself is solid, clean, and comfortable. Beware that the DVD player will not accept U.S. DVDs (they do have DVDs for kids there that you can use), and we were majorly disappointed when the hot tub jets conked out on us, so make sure that is fixed if you rent. We made great day trips into the surrounding area, including out to the Snaefellsness Peninsula. Don't miss walking down to the beach from the black church in budir. Although it takes a while to get anywhere from Husafell once you've seen the nearby stuff, the countryside is so beautiful, that driving really isn't a hardship. Bring a detailed map, as directions to points of interest are not well marked. You can also ask anyone for directions, as Icelanders are super friendly and all speak English. I highly recommend renting this property.
We could not have asked for a better holiday. The owners were exceptionally helpful with directions, helpful hints, in constant contact and very reassuring. The house is amazing, we could not fault it. We were a group of 7 adults and it easily accommodated all of us. The house was spotless, in an extremely beautiful area of the country and felt like home from home. We would recommend you book this house and visit Iceland what an enchanting country.
Visited in early July 2011 for 3 nights; 2 adults and 2 teenagers. We drove here on our day of arrival after spending the morning at the Blue Lagoon. The house is absolutely beautiful inside and out! Very comfortable inside with large and abundant windows, comfortable beds, and modern appliances. Great backyard to enjoy the long daylight and fresh air, whether on the large wood deck, the lawn, or in the spa. The house is in a beautiful part of the country, an hour east of Borgarnes. Only a few minutes from the house is the mesmerizing Hraunfossar falls where we spent many hours watching the water flow from and cascade over the lava cliffs. During one of our days in the area we visited historic Reykholt and took a guided hike through a lava cave. We also used this house as a base for a day trip to the Snaefellsnes peninsula (make sure you take the hike from Hellnar to Arnarstapi; we also took snowmobile to the top of Snæfellsjökull). Other daytime activities we didn’t get a chance to do in this area include glacier tours via sno-cat or dog sleds. From here we connected to the southern part of the country via F550 (drive-able in good weather but 4-wheel drive recommended and required by rental car companies); this was a very unique drive through the glaciers – would have been even more scenic if not for the low cloud cover that morning, our only cloudy day the entire week we were in Iceland – and took us right to Pingvellir Lake in the Golden Circle area. Homeowner was very helpful in answering our questions about the house and the area as we planned our trip. Very glad we stayed here, felt like we got off the usual tourist circuit to experience a beautiful and worthwhile part of Iceland that many Iceland residents go to for their summer vacations.

The shop offers a selection of candy, sodas and snacks as well as the most basic items in food and sanitary products.
During the summer the shop is open every day but during the winter it is only open during the weekend.
In December and January the shop is closed.
