OPENED 2013, The tropical Villa Sabai Jai in Thailand is unique because it succeeds in combining the natural features of the location with simple and luxury accommodation, high-end modern technology and a level of creative imagination that makes this an extraordinary villa. The villa is completely newly built, finished december 2012.
If you are 2 or 4 persons please contact us for price information.
The Villa occupies an exceptional position 35 meters above sea on the edge of a cape with panoramic views over the ocean, the nearby beaches, the surrounding islands and the Marine Park. The view is maximized by the practical layout and innovative design features. The villa is facing south and will treat you to both sunrises and sunsets. This is the perfect hideaway place for those seeking a relaxing retreat.
Sabai means ”laid back”, ”easy going”, ”peaceful feeling”. Sabai jai literally means ”well heart”, and this is the feeling you get when you visit this villa. This the Thai's use to express contentment, happiness or gratitude.
A winding road takes you to the entrance of the villa where you will continue across a lotus pond and into the heart of the property which is a wooden deck combining the different houses and the infinity pool in front of the buildings.
The free shaped pool is turquoise tiled and has overflow which makes it look like it´s part of the sea. Two large stairs in each end. A six person jacuzzi is a part of the pool and is placed in the middle facing the sea. On the side of the main house is an outdoor shower which can be used before and after swimming. Another lotus pond is forming the edge of the deck towards the east. On the deck you will find two sitting areas and sunchairs. To reach the outer deck and sala, which has a third sitting group, you have to cross a small bridge over the pool. From the sala, which also has rain and wind shelter, you have an exceptional view over the ocean, nearby islands and beaches. From the deck there is a private staircase down to the sea. You just enter the water and you are on the coral reef swimming around among beautiful fish. Two of the best beaches on the island, Tian Og and Sai Daeng, are situated on each side of the cape. You can swim, snorkel or walk to these nearby beaches for breakfast, lunch, dinner or maybe a drink.
For those who want to exercise we have a small gym with a barbell rack with adjustable bench, dumbells and a pull-up/leg raise equipment.
We can offer the following activities in the villa on request:
· SPA treatments on our own massage bed
· Restaurant Barracudas chef Ed Jones will come up and cook and serve you an “in villa dinner”, which you choose from his menu
· Thai food can be delivered to the villa, lunch or dinner
. Teaching for diving certificate in our pool in association with ACE Marine
Please note that the Villa is not suitable for young children, since the house has no special security protection for children from the height of the Villa.
Due to that electricity is very expensive on the island and that some guests use more electricity than others, we have chosen to let 30 kWh/day be included in the rental price. If you consume more than this, we charge 32 THB/kWh. The explanation is that we have no electricity cable from the mainland, therefore the electricity is produced in local diesel gererators. Since we care about our island and the environment we hope that you will help us by not using more electricity than needed.
Instead of paying a refundable deposit we require that you leave one of your passports during the whole rental period to our housekeeper. You will get it back at check out after having paid for the minibar and any damages or losses. At check out you pay cash in Thai Baht.

How it all started
The first time we (my wife, children and I) came to Thailand was 20 years ago. After this first trip we have visited the country at least once a year. Much has changed but the best is still there, the climate, the food and the friendly people. After having traveled around in almost every corner of the country for 15 years we started to become quite tired of staying in different hotels. For two years we were looking around in the areas we liked best to find our dream land where we could build our dream house.
We were on our way to Koh Lanta to look at a plot that we were interested in, luckily we went even beyond Koh Tao to have a look what land was availabe there. After only 6 hours on the island, we had found our dream plot with an amazing location 35 meters above the sea, and it was for sale! Good was also that the ground was perfect for the dream project that we had in our minds for all these years. A villa facing south treating us with both sunrises and sunsets. Our wish was to have 3 bedrooms in separate buildings so that one can live undisturbed but close to rest of the family or friends, a main house with kitchen/dining/sitting areas, a large free form swiming pool and a private access to the sea from the large sundeck.
Bob purchased this villa in 2013
Why Bob chose Koh Tao
After 2,5 years of planning and construction our dream project was finished and we could move in.
It feels great to share this amazing villa with others that have the same feelings about it as we do. We try to spend as much time as possible in the villa, but since we have had more bookings than we ever thought we have started to build a new pool villa on another cliff just 200 meters from Villa Sabai Jai, scheduled for completion in December 2014.
As we mentioned we have been staying in many hotels around the country (and the world). Whenever you come to a new place you have to get to know the place and it takes time. Maybe you miss the best things because you didn´t know about them. That´s why we have prepared two binders, one for the villa and one for the island with redommendations of what to do, where to eat and what beaches to visit etc. So it will be easy for you to get a quick feeling about the island. We hope you find them useful!
Make your dreams come true!
Guestbook comments from the owner
