Our home is a craftsman bungalow located in Uptown on Apple Street, two blocks from the St. Charles Trolley. Right at the intersection of Apple, Fontainebleau and Carrollton Streets, our block has had many of the same residents for years. Upper Carrollton is a part of Uptown that has long retained elements of its historical identity. The Carrollton neighborhood was developed when the St. Charles trolley was opened in the 1830's.
The large, private back yard is very New Orleans. We have a pond and bridge a waterfall and a gazebo. While you are in the middle of the city, the pond and waterfall create a peaceful environment.
The pond, which is about 5,000 gallons, contains anywhere from twelve to thirty-six koi. The pond attracts herons and kingfishers which, to our chagrin, like to dine at our place.
There is extensive ground lighting. In a tribute to old New Orleans, there are eighteen flickering Bourbon Street gas lanterns lining the seven-foot high walls.
The entire house and yard are wired for sound, so bring your iphone. There are four televisions and a CD player.
In the yard there is a large gas grill, a refrigerator, a wooden table and eight chairs. The table and chairs are made of eucalyptus, which is not only extremely dense but a sustainable resource. The area is pet friendly with custom-built cedar fences enclosing the underside of the home. There is also a 48” double door, wire kennel for your dog.
The kitchen floor is made from bricks recaptured from old buildings and sliced into beautiful floor tiles. The cherry cabinetry and granite countertops are striking.
Our home is stay-ready. The stocked kitchen has a large gas range, a convection oven and a microwave convection oven. With a breakfast bar and a kitchen table, the kitchen seats eight.
The property has hardwood floors throughout the rest of the home; in both living rooms and each of the three bedrooms.
The master bedroom has a beautiful sleigh bed (queen size). The master bath has a ceramic tile floor and a large sunken Jacuzzi tub. In addition, there is a salt water coral reef. It's our little coral marine colony. Besides their stunning beauty, coral reefs protect coastal areas around the world.
The guest bathroom is decorated floor to ceiling in Travertine Italian tile. The shower has a number of Kohler fixtures; two digital thermostat control systems, two traditional shower heads, eight overhead shower heads and four body sprays.
The property also has a king size bed, two twin beds and a sleeper sofa. In addition, there is an inflatable mattress.

Hi, I'm Finley. I own the house with Jeff. I am a clothing designer, born on the Gulf Coast, west of New Orleans. While we live in Dallas, I have spent much of my life in and around the Crescent City, first with my family and now with my guy, Jeff.

Why Finley and Jeff chose New Orleans
We both agreed that we wanted to dig-in for the long term in New Orleans and be part of the regrowth of our marvelous city. Jeff actually bought the house without my knowledge. He has always said that the reason he bought it was so he could propose to me in the backyard. He did. (On his knees while we were on the bridge overlooking the pond.) Then, as you can see from our photos, we got married in the back yard. The house has a very strong sentimental attachment.
What makes this house unique
There is nothing like having coffee in the morning, out in the gazebo, with your closest friends or dearest family members. The gazebo is a place to talk. The waterfall provides a soothing, peaceful environment for you to share secrets, make plans or conduct business.
