With more than 120 golf courses throughout the area, you can always challenge yourself to a different course each day.  Each year, towards the end of January, La Quinta hosts the Humana Challenge (previously the Bob Hope Classic), now hosted by President Bill Clinton, it is a great cause and allows golf fans to see many of their favorite professionals and celebrities up close and personal.  La Quinta boast the home of PGA West, a 2,200 acre resort development with six legendary courses carved by time between magnificent mountain ranges.  And not to be out done, Indian Wells resort has spent nearly 100 million in upgrades to their two championship public courses, the Celebrity and Players Course.  

Tennis Anyone?

Indian Wells is host of the world class tennis tournament, BNP Paribas Open.  Alongside of Wimbledon and the US Open, this event is now considered one of the top tour events with 300 of the best top players in the world.  Located at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden and state-of-the-art stadium, including a 16,100 seat arena with 44 luxurious suites, 13 sunken courts, ten practice courts spread across 59 acres, it is truly a tennis lover’s dream.

Do you want to Bike or Hike?  

You’ve come to the right place.  Throughout the valley, you are blessed with miles and miles of rolling desert and well-marked bike only lanes.   Tour choices abound and you can make it as easy or as difficult as you like.  If mountain and trail biking is more your liking, there are great trail rides to choose from.  Mountains, desert and canyons, throughout the area offer a variety of mountain biking opportunities, including some steep mountain climbs and descents, single track rides along canyon ridges and muscle busting pedals through sand and lose rock.   Hiking trails stretch throughout the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto mountains.  The desert offers a huge opportunity to experience some of the most beautiful and unique landscapes which is an excellent way to enjoy on foot.  Joshua Tree Wilderness and National Park is located north of the valley and is a must see for any visitor.  Of course there are guided four wheel tours available for those who enjoy the outdoor experience and not having to work up a sweat!

Music

Each year, this desert community is host to two of the biggest music events in the country; Coachella-Fest and Stagecoach. Both are within a weekend apart. The popularity of Coachella-Fest has grown over the years and is now held over for a second weekend. These large events are sold out early and are held during the last half of April. All throughout the season you have many local venues for live music and jazz. It’s great to sit outside, under the stars and listen to your favorite music.
