The Perfect Mountain Getaway

The description of this place does not do it justice. We had family coming in from out of town and not enough room to accommodate everyone so we rented Hemlock Hollow in early March. The house is amazing. It has dozens of unique details that make it very special and there is plenty of room to stretch out. The outdoor fireplace and sleeping cabin are short walks from the house and the stream is just a little farther. The bridge connects to other hiking paths including one that leads to ruins from an old bridge. Nature lovers will be very excited about both the trails, outdoor fireplace and sleeping cabin!

All the bedrooms have their own bathrooms and each one is different. The showers have adjustable shower heads to accommodate young ones too.

Lots of care was taken to provide a variety of games, books etc. for those on an extended stay. This also makes it an excellent place to stay all year round.

The kitchen has plenty of room for several cooks to work at once and not get in each others way.

The downstairs living area is very large and would make a great place for movie night.

My family just got home from 3 nights at this property in Big Canoe. We had a wonderful time in the mountains and the house was great. The house was large and comfortable for 7 people and well stocked! David, the manager, was extremely easy to work with; responding to emails quickly and accommodating our needs. We rent anywhere from 3-6 times a year in Big Canoe and love the community, activities, and the easy drive from Atlanta, but really feeling like we are away on vacation. I would recommend this house because it is so well stocked and has many extras (steam shower is awesome!).
Owner's Response: Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review about of fantastic mountain home. We hope that you will come back again soon.

My husband and I have never been a repeat renter for any vacation home. We are always interested in trying something new when we are able to have a getaway. But, Hemlock Hollow is an exception! The pictures do not do this home justice. We rented it a couple years ago for a milestone birthday for my husband. This year, it is my turn for reaching that same milestone. Hemlock Hollow, once again, did not disappoint in being a special backdrop to celebrate life and family. We felt like we were a world away. The house is so private, comfortable, relaxing, peaceful, and beautiful. We love the new sauna feature! Hemlock Hollow is a place for which we plan to return again and again.

Owner's Response: As the manager of Hemlock Hollow I could not agree more. It is the premier property in Big Canoe with more amenities and seclusion than any other property. Thank you for taking the time to write a review and please come back again.

We rented this beautiful home to use both as a 'base of operations' for our daughter's small wedding (she lives in the area) in May and for the rest of us to have a mini-vacation after the bride & groom left for their wedding trip. It worked incredibly well for both purposes. The bedroom set-ups were perfect (one room has two double beds - perfect for 2 college students). Baths are beautiful - lots of stone/tile - all with inviting high-end features. The steam shower was very popular as was the sauna. I agree with another reviewer - the beds are extremely comfortable. Having rented many, many properties over the years in differing destinations, we really appreciated not having to do the linens ourselves before we left. Having to drop off family at Atlanta airport before we drove north to go back home left us little time on departure day though we did launder all the towels. We had the wedding flowers sent there via Fed-ex, had other items sent via UPS (both brought right to the door). We love to cook -the kitchen, appliances, and prep areas were perfect (bring your own electric mixer if you need one). We seated 11 adults for dinner (with our yellow labrador retriever under the table) complete with wine glasses (thank you for having those!). The hiking trails were great, the hot tub fantastic, and the huge stone fireplace down by the creek were all well-used by members of our entourage. Open the door to the deck and be 'calmed' by the sound of the bubbling creek. BBQs, s'mores and nighttime fires were well enjoyed. Walk down by the creek to enjoy the sleeping porch and climb on the rocks mid-stream. It's heaven! We took advantage of many amenities over the week we were there - hiking the trails every day, canoeing, fishing via pontoon boat, swimming in the lake (allowed off pontoon boat); side trips included Amicalola Falls, and Blue Ridge for a mountain zip wire canopy tour. The management was fantastic in tweaking things to meet our scheduling needs and in handling anything that came up. We give our highest recommendation of David (property management) and the Hemlock Hollow home to any potential renter - both exceeded our expectations and we send our thanks and gratitude to them for making our stay so enjoyable and carefree. We will definitely be back!

Relaxing stay at Hemlock Hollow

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hemlock Hollow. The open flow of the main living areas was very convenient with three families coming together. The kitchen area was especially easy to work in and around for our large group. The peacefulness of the area combined with the sounds of the flowing creek and waterfall contributed to a relaxing and restful week. We highly recommend this location.
