This is a perfect setting for family vacations on the water---ideal for boating, fishing, crabbing, hunting, birding and exploring. Comfortable home with all the conveniences. Deep Creek and the retreat are located on the Bay side of the Delmarva peninsula. A short drive across the peninsula provides access to the Atlantic Ocean for bathing, beachcombing and fishing in Chincoteague. Ocean City, Maryland and Virginia Beach are also easy day trips.
Bring your boat, charter one or rent locally. There is a marina close to the house. Plus we have a canoe and kayak that you are welcome to use. Also there are several public boat ramps within easy reach.
In the Spring and Summer there is a boat that leaves from the Onancock harbor going to Tangier Island that sits in the middle of the Chesapeake Bay. There are only a handful of cars on Tangier with travel most often by golf cart or foot. Several wonderful family style restaurants await visitors to Tangier Island. A fun excursion for all.
If interested in the beauty of nature both land and sea you will find that a visit to the Eastern Shore of Virginia is one that you will remember for years to come.
Please contact us via e-mail with any questions. We will respond promptly. Many thanks for looking at our listing.

We had a great time, couldn't have been better! Caught a ton of crabs both in the traps and on the lines, and one lonely fish, which was not from the lack of trying. The house was perfect, great views, super quiet and had everything we needed for a relaxing week. We drove over the Chincoteague a couple times, which only takes about 45 minutes. The dog had a great time swimming and running around it was the perfect setting. When you have a 14 year old that says he doesn't want to go back to civilization you know its been relaxing and fun..... I would definitely stay here again!
We enjoyed ourselves immensely! The family together probably caught 4 dozen crabs and a couple croakers. My dog Layla, had the time of her life chasing wildlife and sneaking the kids crab bait as a snack. My husband and I have not been able to relax like that in years. The home is fully equipped for any circumstance and is well maintained. We had so much fun, we would like to book again for my birthday. Thanks again for everything!
We stayed from Wed through Sunday. Accomodations were great! the sunrises were incredible. Mike was a great host and the bay location was perfect for our annual fishing trip.
We enjoyed our vacation very much. It was quiet and secluded and so beautiful. There right on the water we fished and crabbed everyday. They even provided a small boat for our enjoyment. The listing description was accurate about location, amenities, and appearance of the property. The property was clean and well maintained. The owners were kind and helpful answering all our questions. There were some beautiful little towns to visit in the area. We recommended this property to our family and friends. A little paradise for anyone of any age. We hope to stay again next year.
After vacationing many years at Chincoteague, we grew tired of the crowds, the noise and the increasing prices. We love the Eastern Shore, but we needed to find a new place to "get away from it all!" We were so pleased to find this property! It's the best! It has a breathtaking waterfront setting and dock, as well as an inviting and comfortable home, complete with every need and want satisfied! The peaceful, serene atmosphere sitting on the deck in the stillness of the morning can be set aside while you head out for some night life at Mallard's. The town of Onancock is quaint with its historical and artistic influences, yet all kinds of every day shopping is just a very few minutes away! Janet's Onancock General Store & Cafe has the best breakfasts! And Market Street Antiques was a never ending treasure hunt in the racks of architectural salvage! Top this all off with the sweetest and most generous host and hostess - Mike and Mary Ann! Their attention to detail and their warm and friendly welcome when we met them in town wrapped up our vacation experience! We will return! :)
We had a wonderful time staying here! I wish we were able to stay longer!
We spent a lot of time crabbing and canoeing/kayaking. We only caught a couple using the crab trap, most were either caught using chicken on rope or canoeing around the pilings in the water and scooping them up with a net. It was a lot of fun!
Our dog Pepper had a blast learning how to swim, we had a hard time getting her out of the water!
We loved the deck! There was just enough breeze most of the time that we were able to use it any time of day (at least until the bugs came out) Recommend you bring bug spray with you.
We had planned on going to Chincoteague Island, but ended up just wandering around Onancock and staying at the house. They had a nice market in town that we were able to pick up vegetables and fruit to go with our meals. We also had great meals at The Blarney Stone Pub and Bizzotto's.
This was a great place to meet our daughter and son-in-law, before they move from North Carolina to California.
I am not sure if we will be going back to this area anytime soon (since we will most likely be vacationing in California), but if we get the chance to we will definitely check to see if this house is available. We would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a fun and relaxing vacation.
