About Carl S. Ey

The owners are a retired military couple but they lease their cabin to limited liability company to manage 'A Buck's View.' Your host for your stay at the cabin is Ey Man Enteprises, LLC. We hope you enjoy your stay and look forward to your review. Thank you.

Carl S. Ey purchased this cabin in 2005

Why Carl S. Ey chose Luray

This cabin came available to Ey Man Enterprises, LLC in 2005 and was redone in 2014. Looking for a place to let our clients hang their hats on long weekends that took them away from the DC bustle, Ey Man Enterprises, LLC was fortunate enough to acquire 'A Buck's View.' It has been a main staple of many vacation plans ever since. Please enjoy our favorite wineries - 'Little Washington Winery,' Gadino Cellars and Chester Gap Cellars. Dinner is super at Thornton River Grill in Sperryville but you need reservations typically!

What makes this cabin unique

The most unique benefit is that you are away from everything - it is quiet at 'A Buck's View.' This cabin was completed in July 2014 and ready for guests - serene and ready for you to relax i.e. no internet, no wi-fi, your cell phone may get connectivity but even better is that it will likely NOT get service ;)! Drive into town (8 miles) to get connected with your smart phone - other than that, enjoy the peace at this great cabin.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We took a family trip to Buck's View in early September. This was a perfect place to relax away from the city. Will definitely think about going again during the winter. Five- plus stars!!!!!

A Great Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for a weekend in late march and brought our Setter along with us to hike and enjoy the Shenendoah wilderness. All arrangements were made ahead of time with Mr. Ey and the trip went incredibly smoothly. The road doesn't show up on my GPS, but with directions provided I was easily able to navigate the road to the cabin. I can see where the driveway can get a little tricky in the winter, but we had no issues in the Jeep and the folks staying in the cabin up the ridge had no difficulties in their Prius.

On taking in the cabin we were glad that it felt rustic while not being over the top with log furniture. Very nicely decorated and usable for cooking a couple meals and home-basing your adventure from. The property was immaculately clean for a cabin in the woods, and we had no issues with anything inside the cabin. The hot tub was an absolute lifesaver on the day of our waterfall hike in the national park, and the fireplace was great as it started to get a little chilly outside.

Overall a great place and it gave us plenty of ideas for our own log home dreams. I would definitely recommend this cabin to a friend, and we'll certainly be back for another adventure.

Lovely place, we hope to return!

  • 5 of 5

Great place, the description here is pretty accurate, so no surprised. Positives: hot tub, linens (so much nicer to not have to bring them), relative ease of getting there. Some minor things: a Pyrex pan would make cooking fish and chicken easier, and I wish there was a table to dine at (too cold to be on the porch this trip). But overall an excellent weekend, one of our best VRBO/Homeaway stays.

Great Cabin

We had a great time at the cabin, really close to the national park, well furnished, a comfortable place to get away for the week. Can't wait to go back!

Early March getaway weekend

  • 5 of 5

We (4 adults, 2 children) spent 2 nights in the cabin and would highly recommend it for those looking for a great place to stay in the Luray area. Unfortunately, it rained almost the entire weekend, but we still had a great time exploring the area then coming back to the very deep sofa and warming up in front of the warm gas fireplace. The hot tub looked great, but given the weather, we never used it. On warmer days, the screened in porch is going to be lovely.

Carl was incredibly responsive to my emails which was greatly appreciated. The pictures and description are very accurate. As noted in the description, cell phone reception is very limited, so if this is an absolute necessity, then would take note of this since it may require you to drive a few minutes towards Luray to get reception (this is what one of us needed to do for internet access). Keep in mind that a land-line phone is located in the cabin for any emergencies.

We would absolutely stay here again.

Immaculately maintained cabin

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful weekend family getaway we had. Beautifully maintained cabin. KIds had a great time sledding and hiking around the area. Inside the cabin is spotless and equipped with all the essentials. Great dog run. Couldn't have asked for a nicer weekend away!

Going for the three-peat!

  • 5 of 5

We've stayed twice and are looking to book our third trip. Yes, they aren't "connected" - but isn't that what a get away or a vacation is all about? It has been refreshing to know that when we arrive we don't have to deal with any distractions. The cabin is awesome, the amenities are outstanding, and we've had nothing but fun when we have stayed at The Buck's View. We keep telling ourselves that we are going to get out and do something when we get there, but it's so relaxing we just don't leave (except for the occasional run to Wal Mart for food). Love it here!!!!

Borders Shenandoah National Park; this cabin is literally in the shadow of the Shenandoah Mountains. This is a great area to hike and enjoy the outdoors. Antiquing is a great activity and the wineries right over the mountain in Washington, Virginia are fabulous! Visit both Gadino Cellars and Lil Washington Winery and tell them where you are staying for a nice discount on the tasting price. Additionally, the cabin is a short ride from Lake Arrowhead for swimming and fishing, Bear Mountain Zip Lining is less than 8 min away by car and Luray Caverns are open year round within a 15 min car ride. Lastly, the most unique movie theater is downtown Luray at Page Theater; playing first run movies, you will thoroughly enjoy this quaint movie hall!

Notes:
This is a quiet get-away, which means cellular phone connectivity is fair at best. Hot spots have worked but there is no internet connection at 'A Buck's View.' Enjoy the weekend and visit our favorite Wineries - Little Washington Winery, Gadino Cellars or Chest Gap Cellars - all three are a short drive away. Also, make sure you make reservations at Thornton River Grill in Sperryville - yes, you typically need reservations! 'A Buck's View' is the right cabin for those of you on a tight budget - you won't be sorry!
