Hand scribed log cabin perched high on a cliff overlooking lake superior. Surrounded by big red and white pines, it truly is the 'land of the pines.' Kick back on the deck or in the large screen porch and watch the ships coming and going from Silver Bay Harbor. Huge view of the lake and Palisade Head. Very private and peaceful.
Tons to do, near Tettegouche and Split Rock state parks and Silver Bay Marina. Excellent waterfalls, Baptism river, swimming, hiking, fishing, biking, rock climbing, sailing, boating, kayaking, the list goes on...
or a perfect spot to sit and take in the views and do nothing at all.
Winter season brings a whole new array of activities and scenery. The snow covered white pines with the blue waters of Lake Superior is amazing! There is a new dove tail wood fired sauna for those sore skiing, snowmobiling muscles. You can access the North Shore State Trail system from the cabin and get just about anywhere on your snowmobile. There are several great cross country ski trails nearby, including Tettegouche State Park, where you can ski into an old hunting camp of several log cabins and a nice lodge. You can pack in a lunch and make a fire in the fireplace. There is also the Northwoods Ski Trail in Silver Bay and Flathorn-Gegoka in Isabella, just to name a few.
There is a queen and a double bed in the loft with a huge skylight for star gazing and lightning storms. The screen porch becomes a sleeping porch at night with a futon and pull down shades, there is also a comfy futon in the living room.
Centrally located on the North Shore only 50 miles to Grand Marais, 58 miles to Duluth or 50 miles to Ely and the Boundary Waters. The Silver Bay Marina is only six miles away. Superior Hiking trail is a quarter mile.

Stayed here during the Beargrease sled dog marathon, late January. We had a great stay in a very well built log home, filled with wonderful character and a phenomenal setting overlooking the lake. Cozy and relaxing after long days of skiing with an authentic sauna the perfect "Finnish" to our days. Shawn (owner/builder) is great to work with - no worries or concerns - thanks for opening your door!
I've been here in the winter twice and would absolutely come back again more times. Beautiful location, view, well-stocked with all the "stuff" you would need. Loved sweating in the sauna, rolling in the snow and screaming, back in the sauna. The in-floor heated floors keeps it cozy with the wood stove supporting. Great loft with a skylight. Shawn and Ed are great to work with as well! Thanks for an awesome time!
My boyfriend and I went up for an extended weekend and fell in love. The cabin is quaint and cozy, yet room more for more than 2 if you wish. Shawn was very helpful with all the information. The cabin itself was perfect, just what I had imagined a cabin in the woods should be. The view was incredible and the skylight in the bedroom was a great. It was fully stocked with just about everything you could need from kitchen gadgets to the firewood. While we didn't use the sauna, it looked really nice. The location was perfect as well, so many state parks around and go in either direction and you'll hit Duluth, Grand Marais or Ely. Loved that we could go venture out and know we were never far from "home". We will definitely be back again!
Truly a gem of a location. The views of Lake Superior are breathtaking and at night the skylight over the bed make for some great stargazing.
Even in sub 0 temps the in-floor heat and wood stove kept the place cozy.
I travel the world as a outdoor film producer and I have never stayed in a place with a more breathtaking view.
Defiantly going back soon.
My wife and I have visited the North Shore for more than 25 years. We have camped, stayed at Twin Points and many other places. This is our absolute favorite.
We wanted a get away after a hard year and we found it at the cabin. It had a magical feeling. We loved looking at the milkly way and stars at night, the wood stove and the wonderful pine trees. After hiking all day we looked forward to coming "home" to the cabin.
We will be back next year and hopefully many more.
My wife & I enjoy getting away for a week (usually booking somewhere via vrbo) while our son goes to summer camp & to visit grandparents afterwards. This summer, we opted to stay at Tettegouche cabin and were exceptionally pleased with our decision. From the start, Shawn & Ed were both quite helpful & informative about their beautiful hilltop log cabin in the woods with a gorgeous view over Lake Superior. While the cabin would be best for small parties (such as couple like ourselves), it has all that one would need to enjoy nature and have a relaxing break from any hustle & bustle. Clearly, Shawn, the designer and builder (with Ed's assistance, we gather) did a beautiful job on the place. I, personally enjoyed meeting and chatting with both of them before they headed off, on the day after our arrival, having been unaware that they were at their other property (invisible to us until I met them by chance as they headed out), from where they were working on their next cabin. They offered wonderful tips on enjoying the area. We had a great time checking out a number of secluded access points nearby to the local shoreline, a variety of local state parks (all with wonderful hiking opportunities), & some of the nearby small towns. We loved enjoying cook-out dinners on the screen porch or on the deck as well as enjoying star-gazing from the skylight window above the loft bed. We never took advantage of the sauna (August stay, after all), but I am sure were the weather cooler during our stay, we would have loved that as well. Thanks Shawn & Ed for such a great time!!!
