This was our fourth time in the Bahamas and it won’t be our last! The Exumas have an amazing beauty that just can’t be described. We arrived on Staniel Cay to beautiful sunshine after a long winter, where Soloman graciously took us to Palm Top. We couldn’t have asked for any better! Pulling up to the new cottage, I couldn’t stop grinning. We walked up the few steps and were greeted with I think, the best view on the island. The cottage was extremely clean, well decorated and very comfortable and about a 5 minute golf cart ride from the airport.
It had all the amenities we needed including wi-fi, satellite TV, and a pre-loaded ipod and dock. The kitchen and bathroom were well equipped with everything we needed. Not having been to Staniel Cay before (only to the Yacht Club on a quick boat trip), I was a little worried about being somewhat remote. After getting my bearings on the island, I loved the remoteness of it because we were literally five minutes from pretty much everything.
The cottage is at the north end of the island and from the deck you could see Thunderball Grotto along with the most beautiful sunsets and you get to watch all the yachts go by. We thought we might eat out a few times but we only ended up eating out once because we were so comfortable. We are used to all-inclusive resorts and this was a great change which convinced us this is the way to travel.
Soloman and Deanne couldn’t have been more accommodating. Before the trip, Deanne answered all of my incessant questions very quickly and after booking I realized we didn’t have a BBQ. They went out and found us a grill and set it up for us the first day and on a small island this usually isn’t an easy task.
The cottage had 2 comfortable lounge chairs on the deck, 2 adirondack chairs next to the beach and two more loungers on the beach. There was also an outdoor shower by the beach. The beach in front of the cottage was amazing. I can’t say enough about the wonderful people we met on the island, everyone was so kind, relaxed and genuine especially Deanne and Soloman. I
wouldn’t hesitate to go back or recommend to others.
