If you are into biking you will want to try out Frankfort-Elberta beach-to-beach trail. 4.2 mile trail connecting the beaches of Elberta and Frankfort. The trail also connects to the Betsie Valley Trail which goes from Frankfort-Elberta through Beulah to Thompsonville (22 miles).
If golfing is what you are after you will want to try out Champion Hills--Beulah, Frankfort Public Golf Course, Pinecroft Golf Course--Beualh or Crystal Mountain--Thompsonville. All of them are excellent courses.
If you are into the arts you will have to visit Interlochen Center for the Arts a home to the Interlochen Arts Festival, an annual presentation of more than 750 student, faculty and guest artist events. Corsen Auditorium, Interlochen's premier indoor venue, accommodates up to 1,000 people for music, theater and dance productions. Interlochen Center for the Arts is located 16 miles southwest of Traverse City.
For a local artist you will want to visit Gwen Frostic's well-known original block prints are featured at this wildlife sanctuary and printing shop. Open May-November, Monday-Saturday. No admission Charge.
If canoeing is your scene then you will want to try out the Upper Platt River that flows around the town of Honor. The upper portion of the river is better suited for more experienced canoeists; the lower portion is slower-paced for family-style canoeing and flows through the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lake shore to Lake Michigan.
We have several local beaches many within walking distance: Crystal Lake in Frankfort--just down on 7th St., Crystal Lake in Beulah. Lake Michigan Beach in Frankfort, Lake Michigan Beach in Elberta, Lake Betsie-Frankfort, Lake Betsie-Elberta.
Don't forget the wineries. If you travel around the Leelanau Peninsula there are several wineries within the area.
