A friend of mine and I stayed at this Brownstone apartment for 8 nights in August of 2014. It is a really lovely place to stay. The apartment is really nice, quiet, beautifully decorated and I loved the jetted tub. There are wonderful restaurants within a block or two of this address. Seraghina's is a really cool, eclectic place to have fabulous pizza - Sundays are pizza night they say and Peaches is right down the block. There is a pretty large grocery store about a block away too. When you exit the apartment turn left, walk one block to Marcus Garvey and turn left. The laundromat is on the other corner. The smaller corner grocery stores are fun to vist as well. The subway is about two blocks away and Manhatten is easy to access in this manner. We bought the subway card for 7 days and used the subway exclusively. It is about 25 minutes to Times Square. I'll be staying here often. I reallly enjoyed this stay.
I recently stayed in this apartment with a friend of mine for an 8 day stay in New York. This, not only, is a lovely apartment but it is in a historic neighborhood filled with beautiful brownstones and friendly people. The neighborhood is filled with an eclectic mix of new and old and is clearly becoming gentrified quickly. The directions that Judit left were invaluable. Use the grocery store on Marcus Garvey and Decatur - it is the only really good store in the area - although the little corner markets are fun to visit. When you leave the brownstone turn left and walk one block to Marcus Garvey and turn left again. The laundromat is on the other corner. Seraghina restaurant has really great, great pizza and Peaches is good to visit too. The subway is a close two block walk and Manhatten can be reached in 25 minutes. I'll be staying here routinely when I come to NYC. I highly recommend this apartment.
I would definitely stay at this property again. It was well maintained and more spacious than we expected. It was relatively close to the C and A subway lines which took us directly to Manhattan and most of the major sites we wanted to see. We were worried about the parking given that we had to move our car for street cleaning, but we only had to move our car one time and it was quite easy to find parking close to the unit. The kitchen had everything we needed, but if you plan on doing any cooking, I would plan on stocking up prior to arrival since there we were not happy with the grocery stores nearby.
Ok, maybe my title is a bit selfish, but I REALLY hope this place is available the next time I travel to NYC and if all of you reading this book it for your trip, where will I stay lol?
We have previously stayed in Times Square when visiting NYC and that was awesome experience but also expensive and crowded. This time, we decided to try to find a nice, out of the way place where we could relax and escape after a long day in the city. That is what this property is. Here are some of the qualities that I was looking for and found in this property:
1. Safe, quiet, family neighborhood and building.-I traveled with 4 teenage/young adult girls and SAFETY IS A MUST!
2. Convenient to the subway, just a short and well lit walk. Cab fare from the city to the apartment is also not too bad.
3. Clean and comfortable! A lot of thought was put into the set up of this apartment. Five us would NEVER have been comfortable in a hotel, but with a total of 5 (yes, 5) beds, there was plenty of space. (One queen, plus two day beds with pullouts). There was a small, but reasonable extra charge for the 5th person. Also, the décor was simple and classy. These New Yorkers know how to make the best use of their space.
4. Accommodating service. I made a special request or two, and they were honored.
5. Conveniently located with a grocery around the block, cleaners, restaurants, etc. nearby.
I will definitely stay again, and will recommend to my friends and family traveling in the area...as long as they aren't visiting the same time I am!
The first thing I thought when I walked into this brownstone was how amazing the venetian plaster looked in the hallway. Clearly the owner is doing some major cosmetic improvements, but I never expected to see venetian plaster walls throughout the whole hallway.
The instructions to enter the property were great! There was no confusion in terms of accessing the apartment. The place isn't the largest but the use of space is exceptionally cozy and offers everything that you need. We appreciate that the place was very clean and of high standard with stainless steel and flat screen TV's. It was a great place to come back to after a long day of sightseeing.
I would highly recommend this apartment to anyone visiting New York, it's in a very convenient location, neighborhood is quiet, and the Subway is only about 5 blocks away! We were very happy with our stay and we will definitely be coming back to stay next time we visit New York City.
I am a frequent user of VRBO properties, recently I made a reservation for a five-night stay at this apartment. The reservation process was smooth and easy with Russ, the owner/manager, responding quickly and thoroughly to all my emails. The location is perfect as well, a pleasant and safe walk to the METRO. The apartment is exactly as it is described, clean and very comfortable, also a quiet atmosphere, which we REALLY appreciated, since we have stayed at apartments located at noisy streets. The kitchen is fully equipped. The bedrooms are comfortable, spacious. I would recommend, though, that you take the time to read the booklet with instructions/recommendations, as you arrive. I did oversee the fact that there is an extra charge for washing dishes and emptying the trash cans.
Our overall experience was delightful, so I give it a BIG thumbs up. I will definitely be coming back next time I need a place to stay in NYC.
