Believe it or not our first trip to Amelia Island was in January 2011. As soon as we arrived we knew we had discovered somewhere very special that we wanted to be a part of. Six weeks later we had bought our Amelia Island retreat and several trips and a full renovation later we have truly made the place our own. We are a family of 5, three small children, and this is our favorite place to spend family time. Our two boys love picking up shells and shark's teeth and daytripping to the awesome Jacksonville Zoo (30 mins)they have a train... very exciting.
Our baby daughter loves the beach and getting ice cream on her daily stroll. We love walking around downtown, getting coffee and treats, watching the shrimpers coming in, seeing the goldfish at the pirate beach shop, playing minigolf down the street.
There is a great Irish pub (O' Kane's)downtown which is great for our family as my husband grew up in Ireland and loves this little bit of home. We have made the condo a easy place to vacation by filling it with everything we need for the kids so we can travel light. We just show up with our clothes and go to the beach.
Amelia Island is an enchanting place and we are so glad to be a part of it.
Audrey McCarthy purchased this condo in 2011
We fell in love with this condo for its location, privacy, and the condo itself. From our balcony, we can hear the waves break on the beach at night and from inside all you can see outside is grass and trees lending a fantastic sense of peace and privacy. Also, the fact that we are not right on the beach means we don't get any of the traffic or cars.
The complex is very well maintained, the people are very friendly, the amenities are exactly what we want and we hardly need a car for our stay.
We can fly into JAX and be sitting on our balcony in Fernandina 30-40 minutes later.
way to the beach, so if we forget something we can easily go back and forth from the condo to the beach. The view from our balcony is all trees, which offers great privacy. From our condo we can walk to various great food locations and easily drive to grocery and shopping. The condo is beautiful, we recently renovated it adding all new appliances, adding a closet to the main bathroom, and new flooring and new paint. We love being on the upper floor because of the view and the fantastic skylights in the family room that really make the condo shine.
We fell in love with the clean beaches, the beautiful Historic Downtown, and the great antique and consignment shopping in Fernandina Beach. The condo village offers the year around pool, the playground, the tennis courts, and lots of really friendly permanent residents that will share the best places to eat, drink, shop, and play.
We couldn't belive how close everything was to Fernanadina, 25 minutes to the airport and the zoo, just over an hour to gorgeous St. Augustine, and a short drive north into Georgia for Historic St. Mary's. Really the best location in everyway possible.
The absolute convenience of everything close by and the kid-friendly items we provide for those traveling with children. Forget the car, and just walk to wherever you need to go.
We also love the on-site playground that is a few steps from our condo. So great to take the kids over at a moment's notice without worrying about carseats and driving. We couldn't be happier at this location. It is quiet and clean and so close to the beach.
