Welcome to the Log Cabin at the lake. Serenity and privacy is all yours. Only a ten minute picturesque drive from beautiful Palmer located in the Matanuska Valley. This is a new and contemporary log cabin built by one of Alaska's premier log home builders that sits on it's own private 1.25 acres in a small lake community. This is not in a cramped tourist area, here you get to enjoy Alaska like an Alaskan yet you are only 1 1/4 hours from Anchorage. But don't think you're sacrificing connectivity for the rustic life, the cabin is equipped with all the modern amenities of home including high speed internet, telephone (with free nationwide calling), Cable TV on a brand new 40' Flat screen, and if you have a Netflix or Hulu account, Apple TV to enjoy streaming, Bluetooth Speaker which works with most mobile devices, radiant in-floor heating and of course a wood stove for those cozy nights in front of the fire. Be one of the first to stay and enjoy the zen relaxation of this home. There is a loft bedroom with his and hers closets and a beautiful view, queen bed, dresser and nightstands. Downstairs in the great room, two comfy queen Futons that each sleep two and a Simmons Beautyrest foldaway bed for those extra guests. The kitchen is modern and well equipped with a large french door refrigerator, dishwasher, full size stove, built-in microwave, toaster, coffee maker. Kitchen has all utensils and cookware. The dining area is spacious and comfortable, seats 6 and affords patio door access to the large open grilling deck with chairs, small table and BBQ Grill for enjoying the Alaska outdoors. There is a full length covered porch at the front of the cabin with Adirondack chairs and table for relaxing and watching the occasional Moose. The bathroom is large and modern with full size bath and shower. The cabin also has a modern washer and dryer with laundry items supplied.
If fishing is your passion, you are only a five minute stroll to the lake. We even supply poles and tackle. There are two golf courses just 15 minutes away that are surrounded by spectacular mountain vistas. Groceries, gas, churches, restaurants and bars are also only a short ten minute drive to Palmer. Wasilla is just twenty minutes by car and has all major shopping including Target, Home Depot, Lowes, Walmart, Sears, Fred Meyers, plus a host of local stores. The famous Iditarod sled dog race begins in Wasilla every year. Just outside Palmer are Musk Ox and Reindeer Farms and Tours. Hatcher Pass is also close by and affords some great skiing in winter and hiking in summer. Both Anchorage city center and the Anchorage International Airport are an easy one and a quarter hours drive away.
Unlike some vacation homes that are situated in primarily tourist areas, this cabin is located in a peaceful lake community inhabited by locals. You will have the unique opportunity to enjoy Alaska like an Alaskan.
There is simply nothing like a true log cabin experience. We call it the 'zen cabin' because of the calming effect you will feel as you walk through the door. Log homes are living breathing things and you truly feel at home and relaxed here. You will enjoy the best nights sleep of your life, no noise and you can literally hear a pin drop.
The cabin was warm, beautiful and well kept. I liked the spacious bathroom with enough room to put our toiletries. We had all the electronic comforts of home in a remote feeling setting. Town was only 15 minutes away. We have stayed at multiple rental homes and cabins in Alaska and this was the best. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Kay, the owner, was so accessible and helpful by text, email and phone, and although there was little need to contact her, her knowledge of the area was appreciated. If you are looking for the Alaskan experience, this is the place to stay. Can't wait to come back!
My husband & I GREATLY enjoyed our stay at the cabin. The drive to the cabin is gorgeous and the cabin itself is nicely situated amongst some trees for a secluded feel. We found everything was exactly as described by the owner's listing and the cabin was very well maintained and extremely clean. Everything is up to date, cozy, and comfortable. The wood stove is such a nice touch for relaxing indoors when you are finished exploring for the day! The cabin is just a short drive from shopping and dining. We received outstanding customer service and responsiveness from the owner. I would recommend this cabin to anyone and can't wait to go back myself! Thank you so much Kay for all your hospitality and sharing your lovely home with us.
My wife and I spent our honeymoon in this cabin. The property and the cabin exceeded our expectations, the pictures on the website are good but we were truly impressed when we got there, from the minute we walked in the door we felt at home. We arrived at the cabin on Sunday and spent Monday just laying around and enjoying the place. During the week we visited Denali National Park, and although the weather didn't really cooperate for us to get a good view of Mt. McKinley, it was still a good day. I have come to the conclusion that whether in clear skies and sunshine or cloudy and raining that Alaska is beautiful. We took a day to drive down to Seward and we highly recommend eating at Chinooks, our food was excellent and the service was great. Exit Glacier, Matanuska Glacier, and the Alaska Zoo in Anchorage are also worth seeing. We want to thank Kay and Kelly for the use of the cabin, it was worth every penny and made our first week of marriage truly memorable.
Great little well kept cabin, saw moose with her twins first drive into the cabin. was awesome!!! BBQ the fresh salmon we caught just outside Wasilla and spent the week eating salmon. The weather was over cast most of the time but never rained the temp was in the 60-70 range which was prefect for Arizonians coming from 110-115 weather. Our host were the best would definitely recommend this cabin .
This cabin is INCREDIBLE! Definitely a new construction- modern, clean, and even smells good! The kitchen is impeccable. The loft style, high ceiling layout is awesome. The bed is cozy and comes complete with mountain views. The wood stove fire is relaxing. A dirt road leads to this very secluded cabin. You can see a few other properties from the cabin, but these homes are not too close. You can see a million stars at night. There is a grill to use as well as a washer/dryer with laundry detergent provided. There were two fishing poles and tackle in the cabin when we stayed as well as salt/pepper and spices in the kitchen. There are a few grocery stores a short drive away in Palmer. There is also a Wal-Mart close to the Anchorage airport- a stop there on your way over is a great idea. There is an "old time" radio- but I think it's just meant to look old- it plays the local radio stations! Apple TV is available, so you can play music from your Apple device through the TV if you like. The WiFi is excellent. Seven Mile Lake is a short walk away. Matanuska Glacier is a gorgeous one hour drive away. A great lookout point of Mt. McKinley at Denali State Park is a few hours drive. This place is ideal for a couple, but there are futons in the living area that can sleep 4 additional people. This is one of the most relaxing places my husband and I have ever stayed. I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone I know! The "zen cabin" made our trip to Alaska extra special! Thank you!
This cabin was a very pleasant place for our family of four to spend some holiday quality time together. Communication re reservation process was good, the warm up ahead of our arrival was a nice touch, and the cabin had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. We found good skiing in the area for entertainment. The one drawback of the location was the lack of a cellphone signal at the cabin-have to go up the road a little for service. Highly recommended.
Cabin is close to two Golf Courses, skiing in winter, Musk Ox and Reindeer Farms. Grocery shopping is only minutes away with two large supermarkets and variety stores. restaurants, bars and local vendors also within ten minutes drive. Big Box stores are only 20 minutes by car in downtown Wasilla.
