2BR and 2BA Fully Equipped Condo Between Monterey and Santa Cruz

Our oceanfront 2BR and 2 BA condo is located on the top floor facing sunset offers spectacular ocean and sunset views from living room, balcony and master bedroom. This condo has high ceilings with lot of natural light. This is the most desirable condo for relaxation giving you lot of privacy. The famous Pajaro Dunes is located on Central Coast between Santa Cruz and Monterey. This is a gated community with 24 hour security on board.

This unit sleeps about 4 people with a spacious master bedroom and a guest bedroom, accomodating couples, children and/or grandparents. The kitchen is fully equipped with coffee maker and utensils. Towels/linens are provided. Amenities include 42” flat panel TV, Blue-ray DVD player, books and games. All furniture is brand new.

Golf and water sports are at world renowned courses 40 minutes to the south, shop at nearby Santa Cruz, Carmel, Monterey, or drive about an hour north to San Francisco for the day.

This is one of the best Pajaro Dunes vacation rentals overlooking the beautiful Pacific Ocean (Monterey Bay) and Sunset State Beach. Pets are not permitted due to condominium association rules. This is a non smoking condo.

Worst rental in Pajaro Dunes

We have been coming to Pajaro Dunes every year for years, and this unit is the worst we've stayed at. The tub in the second bathroom was clogged upon our arrival, and it's clearly an ongoing problem that the owner chose to ignore judging by 2 plungers present in that bathroom and none in the master. Same goes for garbage disposal - it "works" but the water doesn't go down. Bare walls, just a couple of art pieces for the entire unit, in master bedroom you stare at a bare wall in front of the bed where normally is a TV or at least something on the wall, like bookshelves or other decor. Minimal furniture, one tiny nightstand in master bedroom that you can't even use for anything, no bookshelves, no decor whatsoever. Rust everywhere - on all heating units (electrical) in every room; shower head in the master bathroom is completely covered with rust and lime - we all know that a new shower head us just a couple dollars, right? So how much you must disrespect your tenants to charge that much money (we stayed for 4 nights) and even refuse to invest so little in a new shower head? I couldn't believe my eyes. Rusty stains on carpet as well. Nails and hooks sticking out of walls, and not even a teaspoon of sugar for your coffee in the unit. Salt and pepper are tiny free packets from McDonalds. Pieces of blinds in the master bedroom that fell off have been shoved under the bed instead of repairing. Terrible disrepair - we felt so unwelcome!!! I would ask for money back if I could. Even our children were in shock, and kids usually don't pay so much attention to surroundings. Don't waste your money, there are many other completely wonderful units at Pajaro Dunes!

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to review. Just wanted to clarify that we do not provide any edibles including salt and pepper, sugar, etc., for your own safety and it was clearly communicated via my welcome letter. This is a vacation rental and unless renter notify me I would not know minor problems such as bathroom tub going slow, garbage disposal not working property, etc. We have a maintenance onsite and I always send someone right away to fix the problems. After I seen your review, I sent someone right away and replaced garbage disposal and fixed all other small problems indicated in your review. Showerhead was replaced few months ago but the problem in beach homes is that things get rusted quickly due to salty atmosphere. Unfortunately kids play with blinds and break them and that is the reason I kept extras underneath master bed. Your dramatic review is nothing but gross exaggeration. This is one the best condo with perfect ocean view in the complex and I rent it at affordable rates. Please check www.pajarodunes.com, Shorebirds rentals for comparable pricing! Thank you.

Great view, otherwise bare minimum

Beautiful oceanfront view and a decent master bed. The pantry is nearly empty, and there is no ice maker as advertised. The magnetic calendar on the fridge was for 2013, and we stayed in March, 2015. I think this shows the owner is not s frequent visitor. Most paintings on the walls are missing, just hooks left in their place. The kitchen faucet needs serious repair. The alternate beds in the guestroom are only meant for people under 50 pounds. I have stayed in many Pajaro units, and this is the least cared for. But it was fine for two nights, and the price was right.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to review. I live an hour from the condo and I do agree I do not visit the condo every week, but do go there time to time to make sure things are in check. On a regular basis, I rely on Pajaro Dunes Company for professional cleaning and maintenance and they are very prompt. Any person can understand that things do get broken in between and I have an expectation from tenants to notify me to get it fixed. Simply posting a negative review before giving me chance to fix it is very unfair and that is what happened here! Having said that I would like to clarify few things about what the renter posted: 1) Pantry empty: Every tenant receives a welcome letter from me and the letter clearly states to bring your own condiments, drinking water, and other essentials. For your own protection, we do not provide any consumables in the condo. The kitchenware such as pots and pans, plates, utensils, paper towels among other things are readily available for use. 2) Kitchen faucet: Brand new, long elongated kitchen faucet was installed about three months ago. This faucet has flexible head to pull and use but unfortunately someone not knowing how to use it, twisted the head, thread gotten lose and started leaking. Just tightening it took care of the problem. If the renter made one phone call to me, I would have sent someone right away to get it fixed. 3) Paintings: We have some painting missing but I certainly will replace it very soon. The best part is that I kept the rates very affordable for lot of people. The onsite rental company charges about $500+ a night for exact same condos. Beautiful View of Ocean - That's about it - View from window with bird poop all over it

Let me preface this review with the fact that I am an owner of multiple rental units in the bay area. I've been managing property for over 30 years now. I know what it takes to "manage" a rental unit to make sure that the renter's are happy. That being said my long term rental stay, I rented this unit for 30 days, at this unit was not so pleasant. I rented this condo for myself with my husband staying with me for a week over winter break and my adult son stayed with me one weekend. The rest of the time it was me alone.

I would like to say that the owner is aware of all of the issues with his place because I let him know and I also told him that my review would be an honest one because potential renter's have the right to know what they are "really" renting. So, to start off he states that no bar-b-q's are allowed due to "strict homeowners rules." That is not the truth. There are barbecue's galore at Pajaro Dunes. Gentleman that lives across the way barbecued every single night I was there. 2. He stated that you had to be in the unit while the dishwasher, washer or dryer were running, another HOA rule. Not true. No "real" wood in the fireplace, only presto logs due to homeowners rules. Not true. What I believe to be true is that these "rules" were in fact his rules and that's exactly what he should say and not imply that they are homeowners association rules. I went to numerous Open Houses while staying here and the agents informed me of exactly what the Homeowners rules are. 3. From the beginning the dishwasher was not cleaning the dishes. It left "gunk" from the dish washing liquid all over the "clean" dishes. Maintenance came out took the dishwasher apart and you do not want to know what the filter looked like. And to think that I was eating and drinking out of those "clean" dishes. The owner informed me that he would be having a new dish washer installed. It never happened and he wouldn't respond to me regarding the rescheduling. Home Depot came out one day with a potential installation but the valve under the sink had to be replaced, which it was, and the installation was supposed to be rescheduled. Carpeting was filthy with stains, couches were uncomfortable, master bed was o.k., full size bed in 2nd bedroom was terrible, two coleman camping cots for two additional guests, are you kidding me? States that his unit sleeps six? No way. He accused me of not turning in a 2nd key because security said I didn't. Why would I keep a key to this place?

Owner's Response: UNFAIR REVIEW: As a responsible owner with best customer service, I will give you my honest feedback on the above renter's claims and I will let the future renters be the judge. People come to Pajaro Dunes for relaxing, enjoying, and have a good time with family and friends and leave with long lasting memories. To the contrary, the renter used review as a bargaining tool for free stay. For the past couple of years, hundreds of people rented from me and some of them are repeat customers. The following is my response to each of the above claims (1) Bird poop all over the window - Monthly renters are responsible for their own cleaning. The condo is right on the beach and thousands of birds fly over these condos every day and unfortunately they do poop, but in this case I noticed few drops. (2) BBQ - I do not provide BBQ in the unit due to several abuses by renters and complaints from the neighbors. Charcoal BBQ is against the HOA rules. Don’t we want a clean condo? (3) Washer, dryer or any appliance cannot be left running while not in the condo -Yes, this is a HOA rule to prevent accidents such as water leaks that could damage not only my condo, but condos below. (4) Presto wood vs real wood in the fireplace: This is my environmental choice, not HOA rule. (5) Dishwasher story - The renter emailed me stating that the dishwasher is slow and not cleaning properly. I immediately ordered a brand new stainless steel dishwasher from Home Depot. Home Depot came out for installation, found faulty valve and rescheduled and installed the new dishwasher. (6) Carpet stains - We have a nice off white carpet, but unfortunately people do spill things and our professional cleaning company does their best to take the few stains out- the rest is exaggeration! (7) Guest room bed - Guest bedroom is equipped with brand new bed and 2 full size foldable cots intended for children, not adults. Renter's family had 5 adults plus children - truth not disclosed (8) Leather Sofa and Love Seat - 2 year old beautiful, comfortable sofa(9) Keys - Renter borrowed an additional key from the security stating they got locked out of the condo, but returned only one key at the check-out. Security chief called me immediately to notify the situation. I emailed renter to find out but renter cannot remember when and to whom they returned to!!! In my view the renter falsified the truth and posted the negative review. Call me for any questions.

I love Pajaro Dunes! And I loved this Shorebird Condo! This was a very nice condo, comfortable leather furniture, excellent location and a awesome view of the ocean from the living room and bedroom. The place had all the essentials that we needed. I brought a couple of items from home that I did not need to use because the owner had them available. The master bedroom had the perfect view of the ocean, which was just a few steps away. The second bedroom had a full size bed, as well as a small twin size sleeper. There were two bathrooms, one of them located in the master bedroom and the other outside of the second bedroom. There was a washer and dryer with all of the washing supplies and plenty of extra sheets and towels. The bonus to this wonderful, relaxing weekend, was how very accommodating and accessible the owner was to all of our needs during our entire stay which has not always been the case in my many years of "staycationing" in Pajaro Dunes....He even put together one of the most detailed and thorough binders, (pics and personal reviews included)...of all of the best restaurants, activities, attractions, and entertainment venues that would be extremely helpful to those looking for things to do. I would definitely recommend this property to friends, relatives and colleagues. Perfect vacation (or stay cation!) spot that will not disappoint you! Can't wait for my next Pajaro Dunes get away!

Nice quiet vacation

Nice quiet area. A 30 min drive without traffic to major cities. The house was a little worn but the owner was very understanding and tried to help us with all our problems. Only a few steps to the beach.

Owner's Response: Thank you Rosie for taking the time to review. This is one of the premium condos on the third floor which was remodeled not too long ago. Given that it is a beach condo you can always expect some wear and tear due to salty atmosphere. This complex is a 2nd home for many Silicon Valley residents who wants to get away for the weekends and enjoy the ocean. The guest is from out of state and is not familiar with the area at all. She was expecting ameneties similar to a hotel such as elevator among other things. In addition, the Home Owner's Association switched the cable company around the same time of her arrival and the installation was delayed for one day. Unlike most owners, I attempted to reach out and help her special needs. Some of these condos are rented through onsite rental company for $400-$500 a night but I rent at lot lower price to accomodate an average consumer and cover some of my expenses. Check their website pajarodunes.com, Shorebirds rentals. I am surprised that she rated the condo as average, but it is understandable that she may have thought it may be similar to hotel complex. This place is great! Everything you need to enjoy the comforts of home with an amazing view and just steps from the beach! Beds are comfy, private beaches are perfect and filled with amazing san dollars with dolphin an sea otters sightings! We so love this place and highly recommend to anyone looking to getaway and relax!
