American-owned villa in beautiful mountain setting

An Italian style house in the beautiful Apennine mountains north east of Florence in the Mugello region of Tuscany. Located an hour and a half from Florence, the villa is ideal for a group of 8-10 adults with its 5 large airy bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, and spacious great room with fireplace for casual living and dining. The villa is very homey, comfortable, fully-functional and well-equipped. Of special interest is our traditional brick pizza oven and grill. This is your group's ideal home base for a unique Italian experience.

Our English-speaking manager and staff can provide your group with travel advice, guidance and escort service on request. We can help plan day trips and excursions taking into account your group's interests, needs and possible physical limitations. Discover the remote mountains of Northern Tuscany far away from the crowds. Rich in local history, activities and ancient culture, they are an undiscovered gem.

About Susie Macklem

Susie Macklem, born in South Dakota, has lived in Italy for 3 years. She has made a point to learn all the local travel details to facilitate the Tuscan experience for guests. She is mastering the Italian language and has an excellent sense of the needs of American tourists. In addition, she has a history of self-employment having established and run successful businesses in the US.

In searching for a suitable property for a B & B villa, many factors were considered. Primary was the comfort of American guests who are accustomed to large bedrooms, beds and bathrooms. This is a newer property with all the modern comforts of a breathtaking mountain location.

Living The Dream Bed and Breakfast was developed out of the love of Italy and the desire to share this love of Italy with American guests. The location is somewhat removed from the usual American tourist traffic and, as such, will provide a unique and more authentic Italian experience for guests.

Marradi is centrally located in the Apennine Mountains of Tuscany. It is a lively community with local markets and festivals. Marradi is well-known for its 'Marone del Strada' (Street of Chestnuts) and its October Chestnut Festival. The Central Tennis Club (red clay courts, snack bar) and new Olympic Community Swimming Pool (lounge chairs, snack bar) are vital points of interest in this historic town.

The Outlet Mall in the City of Barberino is a little over an hour's drive from Marradi with dynamic views of the mountains and small Tuscan villages.

From this location many day trips to popular destinations are possible: Siena/San Gimignano, Pisa/Lucca, Ravenna, Brisighella, Faenza, Rimini, San Marino. Villa staff experienced in driving in Italy can escort you.
