Overview

Edgartown Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Cottage, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

ONE BEDROOM COTTAGE MARTHA'S VINEYARD

VERY REASONABLY PRICED!!

GREAT LOCATION

10 min walk to Martha's Vineyard's beautiful State Beach and 5 minute bike ride to Edgartown’s shops and restuarants! Bright sunny cottage, right off Beach RD, adjacent to the Island’s extensive bike path connecting you to the all of Martha's Vineyard's 5 towns and beaches. This location can’t be beat! Perfect for a couple’s easy week at the beach. You won’t be looking for parking, just stroll or bike to the beach in the morning. Miles of wooded trails with water view across the street for a morning walk or jog, then a quick rinse off in the outside shower.

GETTING AROUND

In the evening walk, bike or take the bus to either Oak Bluffs or Edgartown for dinner and nightlife. The bus stop is 50 feet from your front door and comes every 15 min in the summer. There is parking for two cars but many guests don’t even bring a car, you don’t really need one from this location. It's only a 15 minute bus ride from the Oak Bluffs ferry and the bus accommodates bikes.

ROOMS & LAYOUT

The bedroom is a separate room off the kitchen and has a double bed with antiique brass headboard, ceiling fan, dresser and plenty of hooks for clothes, towels etc.. Ample sized eat in kitchen with antique pine table and chairs. Bathroom is accessible from kitchen or bedroom. Living room is off the kitchen and large enough to comfortably accommodate two couches, one of which is a pull out bed. Being on the opposite side of the cottage from the bedroom one could easily take a nap in the bedroom while the other relaxed watching a movie in the living room. Plenty of storage for luggage in huge closet/laundry room off the living room. Cottage is about 800 SQ'.

AMMENITIES

Beautiful pine floors and freshly tiled bathroom. Cable TV, New Blue Ray player, 32 inch flat screen TV and WIFI included.

We finished some great improvements to the cottage's outside space last spring including a new pine fence for privacy, new outside shower and crushed oyster shell BBQ area.

HISTORY

The cottage is part of a complex of buildings which once made up the historic Martha’s Vineyard COOP Dairy. This recently renovated cottage served as it's creamery building. The Martha’s Vineyard COOP Dairy was an operating dairy and milk bottling facility until the mid 1960's. During its hayday, all the island’s farmers brought thier milk to be processed and bottled here. The owners unit was the Dairy’s barn and is behind the cottage on the property.

We are year round residents and would be glad to help out with some tips to make your stay a memorable one.

Have a great summer!

Mike and Sandy

HERE'S A FEW FUN THINGS GOIN' ON NEARBY

BIKING - Great location as a base camp for biking the island. Bring your own bike or easily rent one, bike rental shop is just a 10 minute walk toward town, they also will deliver.

FISHING - Just a 1/2 mile away the bend in the road beach offers some of the best surfcasting on the vineyard, head another 1/2 mile down the road and drop a line off big bridge, great spot for Stripers and Blues.

CLAMMING - Just a ten minute walk is Sengekontacket pond by far one of the very best clamming spots on the Island.

CRABBING - 5 minute walk toward the beach is a colvert where the salt pond rushes under the road. Great spot for catching crabs.

KITE SURFING - Well known for its great windsurfing, Sengekontacket pond is also quickly becoming known as one of the best places in the east coast for kite surfing. Vineyard native, Rob Douglas, earned the title of fastest kite sailor in the world & can be regularly found rippin' it up on Sengekontacket pond.

KAYAKING - On the far side of the State Beach, 10 min by bike, Kayaks can be rented by Island Spirit Kayak. They also offer great day and sunset tours island wide.

BRIDGE JUMPING - One mile down the road, nothing like Jumping off State Beach's big bridge! You'll regularly find kids and adults alike enjoying the 10' plunge into the cool waters of the Vineyard Sound on a hot summer day.

SNORKELING

Nothing like the Caribbean, but the waters here are typically surprisingly clear. Floating around the rock jetties of either of the two bridges along State Beach you can ride the current in or out of Sengekontacket pond. Small fish, conch, starfish, crabs and the occasional Stripped Bass are your quarry. The free ride in the current is worth the effort. After 15 years living here this is still one of my favorites on a hot day!

Great Island Sanctuary

  • 5 of 5
A wonderful cozy cottage strategically located fjust out of Edgartown for the best of day-tripping all over Martha's Vineyard. Whether to Chappaquidick or Menemsha, you are set for easy access and participating in every facet of island life from sighing to organic farming. Very spacious living room with great flat screen reception and large kitchen and eating area with beautiful hardwood floors throughout. Wonderful water pressure and plenty of hot water in the newly done bathroom and shower to take the daily grime away. Every evening we enjoyed a nightcap while seeing all the stars that we never see in the city and listening to the crickets - mulling over all the beauty we had seen and things we learned about MV that day. This island along with the cozy cottage will lower your blood pressure like nothing else. Serenity defined. Be sure to meet Bella, stately Grand Dame Golden, who also calls this property home.

Vacationing with Pets

  • 4 of 5
Our family enjoyed a delightful week at this pet friendly cottage. Our dogs were happy to be on vacation with the family. The cottage is clean and welcoming. We walked to the beach every morning and took the dogs for walks along the path. This location offered easy access to main roads and all the Vineyard had to offer.

What a delightful cottage

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I stayed a week and had a wonderful stay. The cottage is in the perfect location, everything is within walking distance or a minutes drive. Upon arrival the property was well maintained and clean. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils, dishes and pots for cooking. We definitely needed wireless access for our electronics and didn't have any issues connecting. We were very please as the internet pictures of the cottage are exact. I highly recommend this property, you won't be disappointed.

Everything was as advertised in the listing, no surprises. Location could not be better. We walked and/or rode bikes on the very convenient bike path across the street into Edgartown or State beach several times (5 minutes on bike to the beach, maybe 10 into town tops. Great dog walking trails near bye, private, quaint, just what we wanted.Oak Bluffs was only a 10 minute drive! We didn't need much from the owner but he was attentive to those needs! Great people! We look forward to staying again soon! What a beautiful island, and a perfect place for a couple to relax.

Perfect Cottage MV Get-a-way!!

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I visited the vineyard for the first time May 2014. After researching many places to stay at and many different locations/towns we decided to stay at Mike and Sandy's cottage in Edgartown. We are very pleased with our decision! Their cottage was very beautifully kept, the pictures online do not do justice. We were first welcomed by Mike and his friendly dog coming out of the wooded trail located directly across the street from the cottage. He could not have been nicer, and if we had any questions he was always just a phone call away! Not to mention he answered many of our questions we had about MV via email/phone prior to our arrival. He was very very helpful! There was a beautiful bouquet of flowers on the kitchen table as we entered the cottage. The cottage came equipped with a full kitchen, living room, 3 spacious bedrooms and 1 bathroom that provided plenty of space, & a washer and dryer. (As well as all other amenities listed on the website). It was very clean!! We felt right at home! The fenced in yard was private, peaceful, and filled with beautiful flowers. There was plenty of outdoor seating as well as an outdoor table to dine at. There was also an outdoor shower for those sandy days coming home from the beach.

Not only did we fall in love with the cottage but the location could not have been any better!! The bike trail was directly across the street from the cottage! If you took the trail and turned left it would lead you to Edgartown and the other way Oaks Bluff, it was perfect! It was very, very convenient!! We biked every day to either Edgartown or Oaks bluff, or if we were feeling ambitious even to Vineyard Haven! Edgartown was only about a 5 min bike ride which was beautiful. The trail to Oaks Bluff took us right along the coast with a gorgeous scenic view of the ocean as we rode!!

We wish our stay could have been longer than just one week! We really enjoyed staying at this cottage as well as in Edgartown! We will definitely be back!! Thank you Mike and Sandy for being so accommodating and friendly. We appreciate everything you do!! We fell in love with your cottage, a home away from home!
