Arriving in Petropolis by Washington Luiz Highway (BR240), after 01 Km of the city portal, is the famous palace of Quitandinha Norman style, opened in February 1944, one of the biggest attractions of the city.
In Petrópolis (city colonized by the Germans) there are many sights, such as the Imperial Museum (only in Brazil), the Palace of the Princess Elizabeth at Avenida Koeller, the Cathedral of St. Peter of Alcantara, Casa de Santos Dumont (father of aviation) and the famous mansions on Avenida Ipiranga Avenue and Koeller.
Petropolis is world renowned for its mild climate, it is located at 757 meters altitude and also its commercial hub of knitwear and clothing, in known Teresa Street, in the city center.
One of the features of the city are the confectioneries with German candy. One of the most sought after is the Confectionery Willemsen in Valparaiso neighborhood with typical German pastries. We also have the traditional German house near the city.
And in one district of Petropolis is Itaipava, known as an important gastronomic center, with restaurants of various specialties.
