About Kristin Zwickau

My Husband and I live in Boston and enjoy getting out of the city every other weekend or so. We discovered Burke Mountain and the Kingdom about 8 months ago and knew immediately that this was a special place and after 4 visits we bought our condo. We love it so much up here, it truly is a place in New England to just get away.

Kristin Zwickau purchased this townhome in 2012
Why Kristin Zwickau chose Burke

While looking to buy in the NE Kingdom my husband and I looked all over the area. We decided on Burkeside due to location! You can not get a townhouse with a better location. Just steps to the quad for skiing during the day make it easy to come in and warm up with no hassle. At night it's a simple, short walk to one of the best restaurants in East Burke. You can't beat that for convenience!

What makes this townhome unique

If you are looking for a low key mountain that will challenge you, and the convenience of ski on/off, then our condo could not be more perfect! Burke Mountain might be smaller than the BIG well known resorts, but you will not wait in line longer than 5 minutes, and you will not be disappointed by the vertical. After a long day of skiing, you will watch as others retreat into a crowded lodge and search for a seat, while you return to your Ski On/Off condo and relax before either cooking dinner at home, or walking less than to 2 minutes to the Tamarack Grill.

Burke, the Hidden Gem!

5 of 5
Submitted: April 10, 2013 Stayed: March 2013
Burke, VT is a great little town nestled in the snow belt. That's right! All those Canadian storms blow through Burke and dump tons of snow, right on this beautifully secluded village. The fresh powder is to die for and the trials range from intermediate to expert. There are also some great beginner trails too; great for kids or beginner skiers.

Another perk about the Burke house is the ski on/off conditions. Leave your ski bags behind, strap on your boots and head to the lift. Just a few feet from your front door. The home is cozy with a fireplace and comfortable couches and beds. The house is perfect for a large family or multiple families due to the split level, with a full bathroom on each level. A washer and dryer unit is also available and a working dishwasher (who wants to wash dishes while on vacation).

Overall, my experience at Burke was wonderful. The skiing and the ability to come in and warm up with cup of hot cocoa at the end of the day was ideal. No waiting in parking lots to make a long two hour trek home. A hot shower and warmth next to a fire place was just steps away! I can't wait to book my next trip for 2014!

So much space...................................

5 of 5
Submitted: February 5, 2013 Stayed: December 2012
My friends and I went up during December for a group ski trip and were blown away by every aspect of our stay. The rental place is fantastic; the furniture was still new and shiny. Kristin definitely put some time into decorating and making it feel like a home and not some shell of a home moonlighting as a rental. Her information packet was very thorough, we took advantage of most of her suggestions.
Wifi was readily available and worked perfectly throughout the entire place. We used the Roku for steaming music, movies and tv shows when we were all just too tired to go out the second night. The place comfortably sleeps 10, but you could definitely get 12 people in here easily and comfortably, there is so much space! We never used the fire place because the heating system kept the place so toasty.
To top it all off we woke up the first morning ready to go, only to find out that the chair lifts were a couple yards in front of us! We walked into the lodge with all our bags, luckily the bag check was free. Needless to say we did not make that mistake on the 2nd day as we trotted over. An article I recently read called Burke Mountain “the hidden gem of New England” and I’d have to say they were right on! From the extremely friendly staff to the trails, lack of lift lines, it was just a great stay. If I had to describe it, I would say it’s like Okemo before it got all crazy.
We ate out at a quaint little place that had really great pizza and amazing steak, it’s in the information packet since I can’t remember the name! I’d highly recommend this place as your next group skication..
Owner's Response: Thanks Nino! We are thrilled that you enjoyed our condo. We hope you will return ;).

Great Owner, Great Mountain, Great Experience

We had a great time at Burke Mountain over MLK weekend. The property was perfect for our group of three couples and working with Kristin couldn't be easier. Steps from the lift and the lodge, we didn't touch our cars except to run to town for some fresh veggies. The fireplace really keeps the condo warm so light it during dinner and you almost don't need to touch the thermostats. Kristin has one of the best information packets that we have seen in our years of Homeaway rentals. Every aspect of our trip was great.
Owner's Response: You guys were amazing guests, we hope you will come back year after year ;)! Thank you for taking such good care of our home and your thoughtful note. We enjoy the area so much its truly exciting for us to see other enjoy it too!
