Cozy winter retreat

My husband and I stayed here over the Christmas/New Year break looking for a quiet place with plenty of snow and winter activities. The cottage is very close to the town of Morrisville, which has grocery stores, coffee shops, etc, but it's also at the end of a quiet road, so it feels like a country setting. It's a short drive to Stowe, and an even shorter drive to Mt. Elmore, where we went hiking & snowshoeing many times. The cottage is well built and very nicely laid out, with an open, well stocked kitchen/dining set up and lots of light, even in winter. The house borders a series of fields that are regularly groomed for cross country skiing. This was a major perk, as we could literally ski out the door. The owners, Jane & Nathan, were very accommodating and kept us supplied with wood for the wood burning stove and everything else we needed (there's also a normal heater, but the wood burning stove kept the house warm and cozy, even on some very cold nights). The bedrooms are also very nice and spacious, with comfortable beds. There is cable, internet and good cell phone reception (not always the case, we discovered, in other parts of Vermont). This is a great place for 2-4 people looking for a quiet, convenient retreat.
