Things to Do in Rosedale:
Ramsey Park and Pool
Ramsey Park and Pool is located in central Rosedale and offers a community pool and playground. The pool is surrounded by trees, which provides much needed shade in the summer time, is patrolled by lifeguards and best of all – free! With only one lane for lap swim, this pool is more of a kid/family pool.
The park – and even the bathrooms – are clean and they offer a place for BBQ and picnicking. They also have tennis and basketball courts for public use.
On Sundays at 2pm, adults head over for the weekly pickup softball game. The one downside is there is not a dedicated parking lot, but there is plenty of parallel parking on the surrounding streets.
Commuting to and from Rosedale
Commuting to Downtown Austin from Rosedale is fairly easy. Because you won’t have to get on MoPac of IH-35, which can be quite packed during commute hours, you’ll save precious minutes off your commute. Luckily, MoPac (the less busier of the two Austin freeways) is not too far from Rosedale so if you have to commute North or South, you’ll be able to get on and off fairly painlessly.
Coffee in Rosedale
Houndstooth Coffee and Monkey Nest
Rosedale’s favorite coffee places. Though small inside, the natural light makes it feel more open. The coffee is one of the better cups in Austin with two choices of espresso beans. Monkey Nest is also nestled in front of the apartment.
Pacha specializes in organic. Whether you are having a coffee, breakfast taco or one of their pies you can count on the fact it will be organic. Pacha has a shaded back patio for those who prefer to sit outside.
This place serves coffee and gelato – voted Austin’s best. The gelato is made in house and coffee is also not bad. For a different combination, try their espresso and gelato combination.
Apothecary Coffee House and Wine Bar
They are known for creating patterns in the foam of your espresso drink. Many Rosedale residents like the atmosphere here – and the fact they also serve beer, wine and snacks. The patio is dog friendly and they have free wi-fi for those looking for a place to work or study.
