Wonderful Condo, Perfect Location!
The main reason I picked this place was because Fernando accepts PayPal payments. I had seen documentaries on TV warning tourist about vacation rentals and I felt safer using PayPal. Fernando sent an official PayPal invoice with all the terms for our stay.
The second reason was because of the tennis courts, 2 of our 5 guests love to play.
EVERYTHING in this listing is just as described. It is the only building in Pena Mar that provides a full, east facing, view of the ocean. Fernando sent us easy to follow directions on how to get to Pena Mar, he and his wife met us at the condo, greeted us with a bottle of Bacardi, and gave us a walk through of the place. The condo was stocked toiletries, beach chairs, coolers you can fill with ice from the ice maker, & condiments. Fernando has a binder full of pamphlets on all kinds of tours/activities/attractions, nearby restaurants, & a ferry schedule. There are also links to all these on the computer in the condo. Fernando has really gone the extra mile, and then some, to make your stay at Pena Mar as memorable as possible.
The ferries to the islands of Culebra and Vieques leave out of Fajardo. You should buy your tickets in advance. You can take cars on the ferries, but again, reserve in advance! We went to Vieques. We met a wonderful family on the ferry that caught us up on local history. They even had a friend of theirs pick us up at the Vieques dock, took us to a local restaurant called Shawnaa's, food was Excellent, then dropped us off at the beach. To get back to the ferry, we just stood at the side of the road and flagged down a local driver. The average fee is $3 per person. Vieques also has what's considered the brightest Bioluminescent Bay in PR. The tours start at night, and the last ferry leaves at 6pm, so If you want to visit it you will either have to stay on the island over night, or you can eliminate the need for a ferry by taking one of the many private tours from the main Island that will take you to Vieques then back to the main island after the Bio Bay tour. And again, I can not stress this enough, book your Bio Bay tour in advance! Most of these places were booked up to several months in advance.
El Yunque National Forest is very close to the condo. I didn't even know the US had a rainforest until I researched things to do in PR. Bring bathing suits & towels to the rainforest, there are some AWESOME waterfalls you can go in.
Owner's Response: Hi Danny, thanks a lot for your review and tips for other guests. As you mention there are places where even the locals had not visit yet. Vieques and Culebra islands are one of a kind experience and El Yunque National Forest is a place you never forget.
We appreciate the care you take to the unit and look forward to host you again in the futue.
Thanks a lot!
