Our Carriage House was built in the 1870's. In the early 2000s, it was divided into two condominium units and renovated. The back unit (159 Pine Street)--the unit you'll be staying in--is decorated in a contemporary style, with marble flooring and beautiful lighting. It was renovated in 2007 using the best materials and finishes. The structure is set back from the street, making it especially quiet. The West End neighborhood is Portland's most picturesque. You'll enjoying exploring it.

This property is within walking distance from Portland's great restaurants, museums, shopping and nightlife scene. Not less than four sand beaches are within a 25 minutes drive. Skiing is an hour to two hours away depending on where you want to go. It's easy to catch a ferry from the Old Port that will take you out to islands in Casco Bay for a day trip.

Bottom line, while staying at the Carriage House you will have plenty to do. You can venture out to sightsee and enjoy nature, or you can enjoy the comfortable interior. Either way, you're in for a great experience.

The Old Port and downtown are within walking distance, but the carriage house is in a quiet, lovely, historic residential neighborhood.

the condo is superb, modern, functional and uncluttered as in an hotel except that it did not match the hotel standards in our case.

knowing we'd arrive late, we brought tons of vegetables to make a soup pot at our arrival. bang! no salt but 2 pepper grinders in the cupboard...and that's it (in a beautiful kitchen with viking appliances). BTW no paper towels at arms' reach, nothing else actually.
we managed to get some "fleur de sel" from Brittany to season our soup and served it at half past ten, but we should have guessed: no ladle to serve the soup! one of us started to have doubt about the existence of a wine opener...
after a very late night dinner, i rushed to the beautiful bathroom to take a shower. guess what? no shampoo...not only in the shower but nowhere else...
back to the kitchen, one of us could not find the detergent for the dishwasher (supposed to be under the sink). our nice landlord did bring it the next day though...
i finally borrowed the soap from the sink to wash my hair, and since it was bed time: you would not go to bed with wet hair, wouldn't you? but no hair dryer to be found...
at that point, i felt a bit not at ease...but we were on vacation, we valued family time...no big deal to go to sleep w/ wet hair...

after all, we did enjoy the house (the flames of the BBQ were weak though) the neighborhood, the town, the downtown...til the check out date. usually checkout time is around 11-noon so everyone was still sleeping when i checked out the checkout time. omg it was NOW! 10 AM! text-messaged to landlord if we could stay a bit longer? there was no NO as an answer but: "the cleaning lady was on her way..."
i should have thought of paying the cleaning lady's wages to provide us some xtra time (since no tenant was expected to come on that same day, dixit our nice landlord)
hey after all thanks to the landlord we stopped by the ICA in Boston before catching our flight home!

yes i'd recommend that condo to anyone, but bring your shampoo, your hairdryer and order an hour or 2 of xtra time before checkout-(:

Everything we had hoped for and more!

We were very pleased with this gorgeous, well-appointed carriage house with a modern flair in a quiet, beautiful neighborhood. Blanche was very responsive for all of our inquiries and the house was spacious, clean and the kitchen had everything you needed to cook for a houseful of people. The main floor, which encompasses dining, kitchen and living room areas, can absorb a lot of activity and pictures can't quite capture the expansive area. We had six people sleeping here, and it was perfectly comfortable with two full bathrooms upstairs, and two children sleeping in the loft area. The deck with a grill was an additional delight with outdoor seating also. It was easy to drive downtown and enjoy the sights, but we also walked a couple of blocks down the street to some charming restaurants as well. I would recommend this to friends. We truly enjoyed our stay.

A fantastic place to stay in Portland!

Myself and my wife, along with two other couples and a young baby stayed in the coachhouse for a week in Late July/August. We had a fantastic time and the space was more than capable of dealing with us all, including meal preparation for us all and the baby as well as chilling out when we had downtime. It was a fantastic place and only a short walk from great restaurants and the best parts of Portland. We would definitely stay again if we are in the city again.
