Lovely six-year-old home furnished with original art, antiques, and well stocked kitchen/linens. All the comforts of home--all you need to bring is your clothes. Several reviewers have mentioned how comfortable the pillow top mattresses are with 3 inch tempurpedic overlays. Combined with Dohm white noise machines they make for a great nights sleep! Enjoy coffee or cocktails on the covered back porch and grill out for dinner.

Carey and Dave are well traveled and both work at a large hospital in downtown Austin. Carey is from Texas and has been in Austin since 1988, Dave is from Montana and relocated to Austin to be with Carey (and enjoy mountain biking year round!). If you would like any recommendations for outdoor activities, cycling trails, parks, etc they can help out. Two small, well-behaved dogs live in the other half of the duplex and will be seen in the gated off backyard when they choose to come out their doggie door. No barking!

Carey purchased this house in 2006

We chose this property six years ago when the house was built because we both love cycling and wanted to be able to ride our bikes to downtown and work--20 minute leisurely ride to Town Lake, 10-15 minutes to S. Congress restaurants, Continental Club, great coffee shops and Mexican food.

We love the location of this home and the low upkeep. Tile floors throughout keep things clean and dog friendly, vaulted ceilings make the area feel larger. The master bedroom gets plenty of light, but has 2' wooden blinds and curtains if you would like to sleep late!

BEST OF WORLDS, COZY AND CONVENIENT

My boyfriend and I stayed here during our birthday weekend. We are UT alumni so we come back to visit often and this little guest house is our favorite place to stay so far, way more private and "homey" than a hotel. We spent most of our time in Central and South Austin so the location was really great for us (about 10 or 15 minutes to most places we went). The other reviews are right about the bedding, so comfortable! We spent most of Sunday after noon lounging in the bed watching TV. Carye and David were also very friendly and accommodating. We will definitely be back in the future!

Ma femme et moi avons passé quelques jours à Austin pour le travail et ce studio était idéalement situé pour nous.
Il comportait tous les équipements nécessaires et même plus car les propriétaires y mettent à disposition quelques boissons et des choses à grignoter.
La literie nous a convenu, la salle de bains comporte douche et baignoire et la kitchenette dispose d'un micro-ondes très utile.
Le quartier est calme et résidentiel. Les oiseaux, qui viennent se nourrir dans le jardin sous les yeux des 2 petits chiens des propriétaires, seront les seuls à vous réveiller le matin. Ces 2 petits chiens qui sont restés discrets tout au long de notre séjour.

Côté transport, il est très facile de se garer dans la rue et de récupérer les grands axes vers le centre-ville.

Les propriétaires ont été très accueillants et accommodants. Nous avons même partagé un verre de vin en leur compagnie.

Carye was very responsive. Sent me an email with details about the stay and allowing us to show up late because our flight got in around 11p. The studio looks just like the picture. Very comfortable bed. Clean and had amenities such as a hair dryer, fan, heater, snacks for a nominal price, wine, beer, etc. They were easy to contact and very friendly. Would go back.

LOVELY, WELL EQUIPPED APARTMENT IN QUIET AREA

We had problems on our journey and arrived much later than planned. Carye was welcoming and helpful. The apartment was warm, cosy and had everything we needed. It was immaculately clean and we enjoyed the garden view from the window. The neighbourhood was quiet and we felt perfectly safe returning from town by bus after dark (20 minute bus ride plus 10 minute walk). The day we were due to leave, there was ice and road closures but Carye was happy to allow us a late checkout.

Our home is located in South Central Austin-less than half a mile

off two major highways (I35 and Ben White/290/71) and a direct

drive down scenic S. Congress 3.5 miles to Town Lake and downtown, passing numerous restaurants and music venues along the way. The neighborhood is only six years old and conveniently located to grocery stores, a liquor store, the famous Hill's Cafe is only 1/2 mile down the road!
