CUTE CABIN WITH SMALL PETTING ZOO. WALK TO TRAILS & RIVERS. BORDERS NATIONAL FOREST

Harrisonburg Cabin Rental Photos and Description

250 Feet From The River Walking Trails And All Of Nature's Beauty

HOMEAWAY HAS CHANGED THEIR POLICIES: KIDS ARE NOW BEING CHARGED THROUGH THE BOOK IT NOW OPTION. WE DO NOT CHARGE FOR KIDS UNDER 18. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO BOOK THROUGH THE BOOK IT NOW, JUST PUT THE NUMBER OF ADULTS. ADD A NOTE OF HOW MANY KIDS THERE ARE AND WE WILL CHANGE IT IN THE RESERVATION. THIS WILL ALLOW YOU TO BOOK IT YOURSELF AND NOT HAVE THE EXTRA FEES.

Please read the whole description:

Lower Rawley Cabin is a real cabin built many years ago as a Summer cabin getaway in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Located in historic Rawley Springs, Lower Rawley Cabin offers access to hiking, biking, fishing and walking trails all right out your front door. There are no steps leading up to this cabin (if you use the backdoor).

We do allow for one night stays, but there is two night minimum for weekend stays (either Friday and Saturday night or Saturday & Sunday nights).

Lower Rawley Cabin has two bedrooms and one bathroom (older, not updated). Both bedrooms have queen size beds. The second bedroom is rather small though. The loft (with very low ceilings) has one queen, one full and two twin size mattresses on the floor. The loft has a very low ceiling that is best suited for kids or young adults (or adventurous younger adults).

The wood stove in the living room puts out enough heat to heat the the entire house no matter how cold it may get outside. The cabin is on a private dead end road with 11 other cabins on it, but the area is almost always quiet and peaceful year round.

Pets are welcome but we do require a pet fee when pets stay at the cabin. On clear nights, you can see thousands of stars overhead. It is a beautiful sight. Also during the spring and summer months, you can see humming birds everywhere. We place feeders off the front porch of the house and have personally seen upwards of 20 birds feeding on them at one time.

Checking is 4:00 pm and checkout is 11 am.

The house can fit 12 people, but please note that the loft does have low ceilings.

We do have chickens, two ponies (a mama and her baby) and 7 baby goats (5 of which are fainting goats) all at this cabin now. There are also a few dogs inside the fence to protect the animals from foxes. They are fenced, so there is no worry about them escaping, but kids (and most adults) have love getting to pet and feed the animals (carrots are a big favorite). We also give all of our guests free fresh eggs from our very own chickens. :)

We just had a new well drilled at Lower Rawley Cabin in February. The water from the old well had iron and sulphur in it, which stained some of the fixtures including the bathtub, sink and toilet. We hope that the new water will not have iron in it, but please note that this still may be the case. The water is still usable, but can have an iron taste, sulphur smell and orange tint to it at times. We just wanted our guests to be aware of this.

Pets are welcome at all of our properties. If you or someone in your group is allergic to pets or anything else (detergent, air fresheners, etc), please let us know in advance so we can discuss this prior to your booking and then also prior to your arrival.

We moved to Virginia so I (Steven) could finish my college degree, but our vacation rental business got in the way... My wife had to quit teaching Junior High in a neighboring county last year to help me run the business. We have two daughters and another baby due in July. We also have 8 rescue dogs and 2 rescue cats. We love the Rawley Springs and all of its beauty.

Katie & Steven Robert Jones purchased this cabin in 2012

This property borders our other properties... and this one is across the road from the river, so it fits in perfectly with our vacation rental cabins. Plus it was the perfect spot to add some farm animals so our guests can a real taste of the country.

Walking Trails and close proximity to the rivers and the George Washington National Forest.

Five men used the cabin for a weekend retreat

The owners, Steve and Katie, were extremely gracious hosts. The cabin was clean ad prepared for us and was already warm. We used the wood that they provided to keep our cabin warm.
The weather allowed us to enjoy walks, and the petting farm
animals were great. One of the men oped to use some of the cabins to have retreats for his employees' families. We talked to another couple who came all the way from DC .

Our weekend at Lower Rawley was absolutely incredible. The house was clean, cozy, and exactly what we needed for our retreat. When we arrived, the house was toasty warm thanks to Steven and Katie. They are the perfect hosts, even helping us unload our vehicle and making sure we had everything we needed. I have taken many groups to various rental properties, but none compare to what we experienced on this trip. You will not be disappointed.

Great winter retreat to access ski resorts!

We recently stayed 4 nights at this cabin with two young children ages 5 & 6. It proved to be a wonderful experience and met all our needs. It is a charming little rustic cabin nestled in a valley at the base of the mountains. The setting is just beautiful with a large yard, private drive way, and plenty of cute little animals running around (inside a fenced in area.) The bird feeders attract an array of bird species and can be viewed from the kitchen window. There are other cabins nearby, but they are nicely spaced from each other and there are no other commercial businesses within the vicinity to spoil the serenity of the area. We chose this location to be accessible to the Massanutten Ski Resort without paying resort prices. It was a 35 minute easy drive from the resort that passes through Harrisonburg...making it nice for food/restaurant/errand stops as needed. The cabin's wood stove heated up the place very nicely. The kitchen was fully stocked with most every basic appliance you need to cook meals...to include a full size refrigerator. No dishwasher, but that wasn't a big deal for us. The farm fresh eggs were a nice added touch. Our kids slept in the loft area because it was fun...and it was very safe and accessible by stairs (not a ladder.) The owners are hard working and very attentive to their guests. They are currently working to upgrade the cabin's many amenities, and once this is done, it will be even better. In general, it is well worth the price!

Excellent vacation location

This is a great cabin in a beautiful area. We had a wonderful week with bird watching from the kitchen window and feeding the animals in the nearby barn yard. There are miniature ponies, goats, chickens and dogs. The living room faces the east and is very warming and inviting with the early morning sun. There is easy excess with no steps involved to enter the cabin. We kept our bedroom door closed and it was great sleeping in a cool room while the rest of the cabin was comfortable. There is also a neat loft with steps although we didn't use it. Would certainly stay again.

Perfect spot for a mountain getaway

Yeha! We went in search of the perfect place for a weekend, mountain adventure, and this cabin delivered. It was clean, warm, and the owners were incredibly responsive and welcoming. Best of all, there is a small barn on the property with goats, ponies, and chickens which they care for--and you're welcome to visit them and feed them if you like! It really added to the atmosphere. We enjoyed sipping wine by our wood stove and heading out on hikes during the weekend. I would wholeheartedly recommend this rental.
