Custom built in 2010, the Bowen Island Boutique Beach House is a luxurious 3 bedroom, contemporary designer house set on 1.5 acres of waterfront property with panoramic views of the Salish Sea and Vancouver Island's snow-capped mountains.
The Bowen Island Boutique Beach House is modernism at its best. Designed by renowned Canadian architecture firm, superkül inc, and internationally recognized landscape architect, Janet Rosenberg, it is contemporary and minimalist, a house of glass where outdoor splendor and indoor simplicity combine. It is ideal for those looking to connect with nature without forfeiting everyday comforts. In winter, while overlooking the blue waters, snuggle up in the bedroom or relax in the living room by an ultra-modern, two-sided wood burning fireplace. In summer, soak up the rays at our private beach, secluded from neighboring views. The house has heated stone floors, 14-foot ceilings, and is fully equipped with surround sound audio, 3D television, cable, DVD, Internet and Wi-Fi as well as top of the line appliances. The home sleeps six people comfortably in three queen-size beds. European rain shower heads in the 2 bathrooms and an outdoor hot tub complete the experience.
Nine-foot high lift-and-slide wood doors open the interior to a deck perched high in the Douglas Fir canopy. Floor-to-ceiling windows allow guests to engage with the magnificent physical setting. You'll love falling asleep to the sound of ocean waves. A star-filled horizon is revealed through spectacular glass walls in every room.
If you desire a truly decadent vacation, try our excellent butler services! Book a butler for cooking, shopping, escorted tours or even a relaxing massage.

If you prefer to arrive on Bowen Island by your own boat, you can moor right in front of the house on our private mooring ball in a protected anchorage.
Bowen Island is a small community with everything you'll need during your stay including groceries, spas, gym, hairdressers, doctors, pharmacies, and building supply stores.

Bowen Island abounds with nature trails, rolling hills, and spectacular scenery. If you seek adventure, a chance to experience nature's beauty, you've come to the right place.
Kayaking, board paddling, swimming, snorkeling, hiking, trail rides or mountain biking are just some of the things to keep you occupied. The realization of Bowen Island Boutique Beach House has been a labour of love. Its owners, internationally renowned landscape architect Janet Rosenberg and her partner Dr. Abe Chaiton, dedicated themselves to creating one of the most unique homes on the island, with no detail overlooked and every stunning view captured.
Living on Bowen Island was Abe’s and Janet’s long time aspiration. In 1992, Abe fell in love with British Columbia having spent extended time in the province serving as a locum for resident doctors. Together, sailing up and down the coast to Desolation Sound, Abe and Janet were mesmerized by the west coast landscape and enlightened by the people they met on their adventures. Yet Bowen Island stood apart in their fond memories as an unspoiled Canadian gem where they could appreciate life’s simple treasures. And so, each year for ten years, they moored their sailboat, Luba, in Snug Cove, claiming temporary residence on the island, but constantly scouting for just the right spot where they could one day build their dream home.
In 2009, they finally found such a place, a rare property on the waterfront with its own private beach and secluded setting, perfectly embodying the spirit of Bowen Island that they fell in love with. Drawing on Janet’s expertise, they embarked on a two-year design-and-build project, putting together a team of designers who would help them create a home like no other. This home, now completed and sitting proudly perched above the Salish Sea, is a simple architectural glass box that celebrates Janet’s and Abe’s eclectic taste, modern sensibility, and respect for art. From local furniture manufacturers, east coast folk artists, and Inuit print makers to contemporary sculptors and photographers, there’s a touch of Canadian diversity in every room.

We fell in love with the west coast, the people, and their quality of life. The constant change of sound, scenery, and light on this property are captivating.
You can do so much and so little and be completely satisfied. The Island offers many activities but it's the still moments that are most memorable, when we are just looking out at the water and the green around us. We enjoy going to visit the quaint restaurants, craft shops, and markets in the town where everything tastes and smells better. We also enjoy kayaking and sailing, while having easy access to go to the city for the day.

Our stay at the Bowen Island boutique beach house was nothing short of spectacular. The views from every single room are breathtaking. The massive floor to ceiling windows and sliding glass doors erased all boundaries between the house and nature. The hot tub is in the perfect spot giving you a full 180-degree view of the Pacific Ocean below and beautiful scenery. Bowen Island has a natural beauty that kept us entertained through hiking and nature trails. We will definitely be back.
We were fortunate to have spent five incredible days at the Bowen Island Boutique Beach House while scouting the island as our potential home. The stay exceeded every expectation and the owners and their property managers went over and above to ensure our stay was perfect!!
I love the West Coast and the rugged untouched nature of it's shorelines.
I love food. I love feeding people. This Birthday I got the best of everything.
Set against this amazing backdrop of quiet forest, craggy rock and tumbled sea, my family & I put on our cozy socks and curled up by the fire in this stunning architectural home with plenty of warmth & luxury. our first night we had a gale-storm and it was absolutely beautiful with the wind in the trees. My husband surprised me with a "girls only night". It may have been the first birthday where I didnt cook for my friends, but let me tell you, I have never been more happy on this day.
The owners had set us up with a local catering company 'Miksa'. The unassuming chef arrived and quietly set up some of the most amazing food I have ever had.
Everything was stunningly laid out. Simple & beautiful. Bravo!
We are already looking for our next opportunity to return to this stunning get-away.
Next time in warmer weather.
Tucked-in against a rock face and suspended 30 feet over the rocks and sea, the Beach House on Bowen Island is quite simply – magical! Stepping onto the deck, surrounded by towering evergreens, arbutus trees, rocks and ocean, is like stepping into a Tom Thomson painting. On our first evening we were entertained by the Seals and Turkey Vultures while watching a spectacular sunset. On day two a family of deer watched us showering from atop the rocks. We were there for four nights and during our stay we hardly saw another person, and best of all, only one motorboat!
We have rented a number of architecturally significant houses, Seaside, FL, Sarasota, FL, Palm Springs, CA, Stratford, ON - but this house by superkül has to be our favourite – for now!
This truly is a way to experience the beauty of BC in first-class comfort.
This is our third time in "heaven on Bowen" and each time only gets better. I have already talked about the magnificent views, the constant beauty of the changing scenery through every window or deck, the luxurious amenities and the generosity of the owners Abe and Janet sharing their knowledge of Bowen (where to get the best pies, meat, veggies and restaurants) along with a stocked kitchen with great pots and pans, condiments, and coffee. In addition to all of that, this time I want to acknowledge our ability to enjoy the people of Bowen, the ultimate relaxation this oasis provides and the ease of pretending for a few glorious days to be an Islander and live the "good life". THANK YOU Abe and Janet for sharing your piece of heaven with us. See you next year - this time for a week!!!!!
Our second stay at the Bowen Beach House was again, an absolute dream. This home of glass situated between rock and sea is almost too beautiful to describe. The views are breath taking, I'm not sure how many hours we spent lying out on the deck watching the sea birds, the seals, and on our second evening, whales as the hours slipped past to the sound of waves, the wind in the trees...all while having the comforts of a contemporary design savvy home, with a sleek chef style kitchen, boutique bathrooms with rainshower, a gorgeous sound system...when we actually found it in us to leave the our oasis there was lots to do on the island kayaking, hiking, swimming...and in the evenings a hot tub under the stars, wine by the fireside...We are so deeply restored from this wonderful escape. Janet and Abe were the most gracious hosts and available for any questions we may have. We so look forward to another chance to visit the Beach House.
We stayed for six days and had an amazing time. The house and setting are truly spectacular. There has been such attention to detail in building and decorating the house. We swam in the cove and sailed around the island and frankly wished we didn't have to leave. Abe and Janet have thought of everything you could possibly need in the house for a perfect stay. Now we are just trying to think of when we could stay again.
