BOWEN ISLAND BOUTIQUE BEACH HOUSE WITH PRIVATE BEACH & MOORING

Bowen Island House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

Custom built in 2010, the Bowen Island Boutique Beach House is a luxurious 3 bedroom, contemporary designer house set on 1.5 acres of waterfront property with panoramic views of the Salish Sea and Vancouver Island's snow-capped mountains.

The Bowen Island Boutique Beach House is modernism at its best. Designed by renowned Canadian architecture firm, superkül inc, and internationally recognized landscape architect, Janet Rosenberg, it is contemporary and minimalist, a house of glass where outdoor splendor and indoor simplicity combine. It is ideal for those looking to connect with nature without forfeiting everyday comforts. In winter, while overlooking the blue waters, snuggle up in the bedroom or relax in the living room by an ultra-modern, two-sided wood burning fireplace. In summer, soak up the rays at our private beach, secluded from neighboring views. The house has heated stone floors, 14-foot ceilings, and is fully equipped with surround sound audio, 3D television, cable, DVD, Internet and Wi-Fi as well as top of the line appliances. The home sleeps six people comfortably in three queen-size beds. European rain shower heads in the 2 bathrooms and an outdoor hot tub complete the experience.

Nine-foot high lift-and-slide wood doors open the interior to a deck perched high in the Douglas Fir canopy. Floor-to-ceiling windows allow guests to engage with the magnificent physical setting. You'll love falling asleep to the sound of ocean waves. A star-filled horizon is revealed through spectacular glass walls in every room.

If you desire a truly decadent vacation, try our excellent butler services! Book a butler for cooking, shopping, escorted tours or even a relaxing massage.

Accessibility:

Bowen Island is a 20-minute, stress-free ferry ride from West Vancouver, via the Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal. Ferries run every hour. Bowen Island is also serviced by water taxis from Horseshoe Bay or Granville Island in downtown Vancouver.

If you prefer to arrive on Bowen Island by your own boat, you can moor right in front of the house on our private mooring ball in a protected anchorage.

Bowen Island is a small community with everything you'll need during your stay including groceries, spas, gym, hairdressers, doctors, pharmacies, and building supply stores.

The Bowen Island Boutique Beach House is also fully wheelchair accessible.

Activities:

Bowen Island abounds with nature trails, rolling hills, and spectacular scenery. If you seek adventure, a chance to experience nature's beauty, you've come to the right place.

Kayaking, board paddling, swimming, snorkeling, hiking, trail rides or mountain biking are just some of the things to keep you occupied. For those who prefer a slower pace, there is whale watching, bald eagle viewing, sailing, fishing, crabbing, oyster harvesting, golfing at the island's 9-hole course, or the simple pleasure of lounging and reading a good book. Oceanfront walking trails at Cape Roger Curtis are only minutes away. World class alpine skiing is 60 minutes away in Whistler via the Sea to Ski highway.

Bowen Island is also a hub for culture and art. Join in the year-round celebrations or various festivals hosted by the Island's residents. Markets, craft fairs, galleries, and several unique shops and restaurants that you won't find anywhere else are not to be missed.

About Chanelle Walker, Beach House Property Manager

The realization of Bowen Island Boutique Beach House has been a labour of love. Its owners, internationally renowned landscape architect Janet Rosenberg and her partner Dr. Abe Chaiton, dedicated themselves to creating one of the most unique homes on the island, with no detail overlooked and every stunning view captured.

Living on Bowen Island was Abe’s and Janet’s long time aspiration. In 1992, Abe fell in love with British Columbia having spent extended time in the province serving as a locum for resident doctors. Together, sailing up and down the coast to Desolation Sound, Abe and Janet were mesmerized by the west coast landscape and enlightened by the people they met on their adventures. Yet Bowen Island stood apart in their fond memories as an unspoiled Canadian gem where they could appreciate life’s simple treasures. And so, each year for ten years, they moored their sailboat, Luba, in Snug Cove, claiming temporary residence on the island, but constantly scouting for just the right spot where they could one day build their dream home.

In 2009, they finally found such a place, a rare property on the waterfront with its own private beach and secluded setting, perfectly embodying the spirit of Bowen Island that they fell in love with. Drawing on Janet’s expertise, they embarked on a two-year design-and-build project, putting together a team of designers who would help them create a home like no other. This home, now completed and sitting proudly perched above the Salish Sea, is a simple architectural glass box that celebrates Janet’s and Abe’s eclectic taste, modern sensibility, and respect for art. From local furniture manufacturers, east coast folk artists, and Inuit print makers to contemporary sculptors and photographers, there’s a touch of Canadian diversity in every room.

Why Chanelle Walker, Beach House Property Manager chose Bowen Island

We fell in love with the west coast, the people, and their quality of life. The constant change of sound, scenery, and light on this property are captivating.

What makes this house unique

You can do so much and so little and be completely satisfied. The Island offers many activities but it's the still moments that are most memorable, when we are just looking out at the water and the green around us. We enjoy going to visit the quaint restaurants, craft shops, and markets in the town where everything tastes and smells better. We also enjoy kayaking and sailing, while having easy access to go to the city for the day.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Our stay at the Bowen Island boutique beach house was nothing short of spectacular. The views from every single room are breathtaking. The massive floor to ceiling windows and sliding glass doors erased all boundaries between the house and nature. The hot tub is in the perfect spot giving you a full 180-degree view of the Pacific Ocean below and beautiful scenery. Bowen Island has a natural beauty that kept us entertained through hiking and nature trails. We will definitely be back.

Heaven on Bowen

  • 5 of 5
This is our third time in "heaven on Bowen" and each time only gets better. I have already talked about the magnificent views, the constant beauty of the changing scenery through every window or deck, the luxurious amenities and the generosity of the owners Abe and Janet sharing their knowledge of Bowen (where to get the best pies, meat, veggies and restaurants) along with a stocked kitchen with great pots and pans, condiments, and coffee. In addition to all of that, this time I want to acknowledge our ability to enjoy the people of Bowen, the ultimate relaxation this oasis provides and the ease of pretending for a few glorious days to be an Islander and live the "good life". THANK YOU Abe and Janet for sharing your piece of heaven with us. See you next year - this time for a week!!!!!

Dream Escape to Sleek Design Home in Gorgeous Natural Setting

  • 5 of 5
Our second stay at the Bowen Beach House was again, an absolute dream. This home of glass situated between rock and sea is almost too beautiful to describe. The views are breath taking, I'm not sure how many hours we spent lying out on the deck watching the sea birds, the seals, and on our second evening, whales as the hours slipped past to the sound of waves, the wind in the trees...all while having the comforts of a contemporary design savvy home, with a sleek chef style kitchen, boutique bathrooms with rainshower, a gorgeous sound system...when we actually found it in us to leave the our oasis there was lots to do on the island kayaking, hiking, swimming...and in the evenings a hot tub under the stars, wine by the fireside...We are so deeply restored from this wonderful escape. Janet and Abe were the most gracious hosts and available for any questions we may have. We so look forward to another chance to visit the Beach House.

August stay

  • 5 of 5
We stayed for six days and had an amazing time. The house and setting are truly spectacular. There has been such attention to detail in building and decorating the house. We swam in the cove and sailed around the island and frankly wished we didn't have to leave. Abe and Janet have thought of everything you could possibly need in the house for a perfect stay. Now we are just trying to think of when we could stay again.

Romantic, scenic and serene - A delicious experience

  • 5 of 5
We stayed at this home for almost a week at the end of June, 2014. I can't say enough about this property other than the pictures do not represent the totality of the beauty of this property. The gorgeous grounds leading up to the home, and the entry into the home with floor to ceiling windows looking out over the water are breathtaking. The manner in which the property is situate makes you unaware of any other properties near you. there is a quietness of the home which allows you to enjoy the beauty of the area. The patio overlooks the water and became a favourite place for us to be. We saw deer running on adjacent land and marvelled at the sunrise and sunset each day. The home is luxuriously furnished with every convenience you can imagine. The kitchen is adjacent to the living room, but note that all rooms have large windows facing the water so there is not a bad view from anywhere in the house. Whether you bring in food to cook, or barbecue you will enjoy the dining experience sitting on the patio or in the kitchen with the sun setting beside you. This is truly a property for people who want to enjoy all the beauty that British Columbia has to offer.

Bowen Island Haven

  • 5 of 5
We stayed at this incredible beach home for an early winter break combined with a little house hunting on Bowen. Sadly, everything paled when compared to Janet and Abe's incredible property; every aspect to this place is superlative. While architecturally stunning, the home is wonderfully comfortable, with every imaginable detail in place (like a fully stocked pantry and food basics in the fridge.) Their concierge was most helpful and friendly, and was very thorough in acquainting us with the details of the home. Janet even called from Toronto the following afternoon to ensure that we were comfortable and satisfied. Location, views, garden design, amenities -- we have never encountered a rental property such as this before. And Bowen Island itself is a gem ... an idyllic sanctuary so close to our urban home. While we did eventually find a home to purchase on the island, we won't hesitate to recommend this property to family and friends.

Heaven on Bowen

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I and another couple had the lucky experience to stay at Abe and Janet's Beach House for a long weekend. This home is an oasis of beauty, calm and peace. The moment you start your walk through the gate down the wooden path to the moss covered boulder at the front door you know you are in for a unique treat. This home offers comfort and elegance surrounded by nature from all vantage points (the pictures don't do it justice). The house had everything promised, a fully stocked kitchen with every mod con, comfy beds with luxury linens, abundant white towels, a laundry, and those views. We all felt like we were living in a treehouse, with a constant change of eye candy - eagles, sunsets, barges, cruise ships, tides coming in and out - all seen from various decks, living areas and bedrooms. Janet and Abe maintain there home to perfection and everything was immaculate. They answered all our questions and offered great recommendations for hikes and dining. WE all highly recommend this
property - though we did think to keep it a secret - though Janet and Abe were so lovely we had to share.
