Pitangueiras is the name of the central district of the city and one of the most frequented beaches of the city of Guaruja, State of Sao Paulo.
Pitangueiras is the first beach to be seen, whether they arrive by ferry or by road as it is located in the central area of ??the city, whose district also has the name of the beach and the coastline divides the city into north beaches as far south. Good for swimming, urbanized, has long buildings throughout its coastline. It is one of the beaches with the highest concentration of tourists, has a preferred area for surfing, with the Morro do Maluf (whose correct name is Morro da Campina) and in the center a small island inhabited by vultures and crabs, called Pombeva. In Pitangueiras also located the boardwalk where are the restaurants, bars and Shopping La Plage. At the west end of the beach is the Building Over the Waves, built so close to the sea when the tide is high, the water comes knocking at their base.
This beach was once known as Praia das Laranjeiras, because there was a crop of orange-owned Dona Maria Malta, with the passage of time the orange trees were replaced with cherry feet, hence the name Pitangueiras. Pitangueiras which is also the name of the neighborhood where the street is located in Rio de Janeiro, a street closed to vehicle traffic, being used exclusively for pedestrians who frequent various bars therein.
