Welcome to Whitesbeach Guesthouse, located in beautiful Torquay, Victoria - gateway to the Great Ocean Road and home of the world renowned Bells Beach.
An accommodation unlike any other, Whitesbeach Guesthouse uniquely combines the amenities of a large hotel with the exclusivity and friendly service of a bed and breakfast.
We offer in-house suites as well as a self-contained townhouse and can accommodate up to 13 guests.
A plentiful gourmet continental breakfast, free WiFi, an indoor heated pool and tennis court are just a few of the features that set us apart.
Whether you’re travelling for business, a romantic get-away or a relaxing family holiday, Whitesbeach Guesthouse is the perfect place to make it happen.
When people learn we run a bed and breakfast, their first question is usually “Have you managed a hotel before?”, to which our answer is “No, but we’ve stayed in lots of them.”
So in case you’re curious about how we got here, here’s (a very brief version of) our story:
Stephen and Claudia met in 1996 while working in a Miami restaurant and paying their way through college. Claudia was a bartender and Stephen a waiter, so the pecking order was established from day 1.
Stephen and Claudia married in 1999 and started a journey which has taken them all around the USA and the world.
In the USA Miami became Houston, which became Portland, which became Seattle.
During their 5 years in Seattle, Stephen worked at Microsoft while Claudia was busy embracing the gift of motherhood with their first two children (Liam and Veronica)
In 2007, not content with the perfection of the Northwest USA, Stephen and Claudia decided to change contintents, careers and climate
After a 6 month stop in Chile (Claudia’s original home) they finally ended up in Australia (Stephen’s original home).
For the past 5 years, Stephen has worked in financial services, helping his father Brian sell his business while successfully setting up his own.
In 2011, Stephen and Claudia welcomed child number 3 (Dillon) into the world.
As you can see our lives have been quite a journey thus far. So when the chance for a new adventure came along, we couldn’t refuse.
That’s the short version of the story. We look forward to sharing more with you in person as well as hearing yours.
Stephen and Claudia Handley purchased this villa in 2012
