Photos and Description of the Seattle vacation apartment rental
#203 Has Two Bedrooms And A Queen Sized Sleeper In The Living Room.

This is the last remodel I'm ever doing at St. John's! Horray! 203 was three single studio apartments that shared a hall bathroom. We combined them, making a large two bedroom with its own bath. The living room/dining and kitchen areas are all in one large corner room with the greatest view of traffic on East Pike Street. It's a real fun place to sit and watch.

The apartment has a nice master bedroom with a queen bed, dresser, two night stands, a combination writing desk and make-up table, and a 40' Samsung LED TV.

The second bedroom has two adult sized (meaning extra long) twin beds. The beds are actually made for adults, so they are comfortable, unlike ordinary twin beds. And of course when younger people sleep in them it's no problem as they seem spacious and very fancy. Both these beds and the one in the master have padded headboards so they're comfortable places to sit and read or watch TV. The second bedroom also has a Samsung TV but this one is only 32'.

The main room also has a TV, another Samsung 40' LED TV. We have Dish Network (a satellite system) with lots of channels including HBO. There is of course also free wireless internet. And there's a stereo in the living room with a docking station for your ipod or iphone. It also plays CDs and there's a small selection in the apartment.

The living room is quite comfortable. The couch is made by American Leather and is of high quality. They have a patented system of making a sleeper sofa. They use a solid plywood platform and heavy foam. It makes a firm but very comfortable place to sleep. And when it's put away it's a nice couch. There's also a comfortable easy chair and a table with 4 chairs in the window nook. That's where we like to sit and people watch.

The apartment is on the corner of East Pike and Harvard. It's a busy intersection with pedestrian traffic. There are two colleges within blocks of us. And lots of people living in the area. Across the street from us is a 24 hour grocery store, which draws people to our location. And up the street, about 3 blocks from us, is the center of a very vibrant night life scene. We're just on the fringe of it, which is a good thing actually. It's amazing to walk around up there on a Friday or Saturday night, but then it's nice to come back to St. John's where the neighborhood isn't totally packed and amazing.

The kitchen is small, taking up one long wall. There's a small 4 burner stove with oven and a large microwave oven. Plus a blender, toaster, coffee maker and all the pots and pans and utensils and plates and silverware and the basic cooking essentials. Just go across the street to the store and it's easy to stay in the apartment and avoid high priced meals every time you go out. It's a good little kitchen. It works real well and it's a great place to cook and eat and hang out.

The building has 23 apartments total. We have six short-term rentals and 17 full time apartments. We have a live in manager, Johnny, who will check you in and out and take care of any needs you might have while you're with us.

Built in 1905, St. John's has character. It has large halls and beautiful old woodwork and it's a great place! We've owned it for almost eight years now, and we've remodeled the entire place. This apartment, #203, is my last remodel! It's all done! It's a great feeling. My wife and I stay in the apartments when they are not rented, giving us a place to stay in the city. This is a really good thing to do because we are always looking for ways to improve the apartments. We make sure the kitchens have everything you need to cook and that everything works the way we designed it.

There's much more to the St. John's story. We have a large website with many more photos and information. You can also reserve directly through the website at any time. Thank you for looking at our properties, and we hope you come stay with us!

About Christine Heller

My wife Oda and I own St. John's Apartments. We live in the country about an hour from the building, and use the short-terms when we want to come into town. They are our home(s) away from home, as well as our guests. We try very hard to make sure the place is very comfortable and has all the items a traveler could ever need. It's a job, and a hobby, and it's fun. We feel very lucky to have St. Johns!

Christine Heller purchased this apartment in 2005
Why Christine Heller chose Seattle

We were very careful in our selection of this building when we bought it. We had a great realtor who showed us many other buildings and then wouldn't let us buy them. He was just 'educating' us. We St. John's came up he knew it was right for us, and we knew as well. It required a lot of work to bring it up to our standards, and many additional dollars too! But it was well worth it. Built in 1905, the place has a rich history. (Actually it's a poor history. The people that have lived here have always been working class, struggling to get by.) The building itself has character. The open air design and the old woodwork gives it a special feel. It's just a great place to be!

What makes this apartment unique

In addition to just loving our building, we love the neighborhood, the location and the convenience of it all. The large grocery store across the street is excellent. And we're surrounded with great restaurants and lots of fun little shops. We're not in the middle of the big stores in downtown Seattle; we're in the middle of the little quirky shops that are so much more fun to explore. The neighborhood is amazing. If you like night life there's a huge set of bars just a few blocks away, several with dance floors and live music and many with just great decor, great drinks and an amazing place to see what it's like to live in Seattle.

Three blocks away is a great park-Cal Anderson Park. It has lots of play fields for all ages and courts. Right across the street from Cal Anderson is Seattle's best bookstore, Elliott Bay Books. And across from that EveryDay Music, Seattle's best music store. Between St. John's and these places are many restaurants and three live music venues. You don't have to walk far to enjoy what Seattle has to offer.

And downtown Seattle, heading the other direction, is just 10 blocks to the middle of town with all the big fancy stores. To get there one walks down Pike Street, going right past the Washington State Convention Center. It's an eight block walk there. (We have lots of Convention goers stay with us.) And if you keep on walking past the center of downtown, after about 15 blocks you run into the Pike Place Market. It's a partially open-air market with all kinds of produce and hand-made goods, and is one of our most popular spots. Just beyond that is the waterfront where the cruise ships depart for Alaska and for short day trips. It's all very close and walkable.
