We have owned this property since the early 90's when it was just a solar powered, cord style log shack. We built many memories through the years and enjoyed sharing the place with family and friends. After rebuilding just a few years ago we decided that we would like to share our small piece of heaven with other's who might appreciate the peace of this secluded mountain hide-away. It is our hope that you leave here with some great memories of a splendid vacation that will last a lifetime..
Vickie and Shannon purchased this house in 2009
Very few places are available for private ownership in this area of Tonto Natl. Forest. It sits just under the Mogollon Rim at approx. 5500 foot above sea level so the climate is mild to moderate compared to Phoneix. The place sits next to Ellison Creek that flows year round as well as a fulyl stocked trout pond. The property is surrounded by tall pines and juniper's and the 52 mile Highline trail can be reached within a few hundred feet. Each time we go we see amazing wildlife: bobcat, eagles, wild turkeys, javalinas, rabbits, elk, deer, coyotes and SO much more!

Great house in the Tonto Village Forest well off the beaten path. Has all the amenities you need for your stay. We cooked meals at home and the kitchen has everything. We planned to go on more day trips but the kids loved exploring down by the creek. Very quiet area.
We enjoyed our stay at this home. The home is extremely well stocked with pretty much anything you will need (kitchen items, linen, roll away cots, etc.) during your stay. The neighborhood was extremely quite, the only noises were the ones we created. The grand kids enjoyed hiking the nearby stream and feeding apples to the horses at the property next door. The owners were great to work with and we will definitely consider renting this place again when we return to the Payson area. Everyone had a great time.
The owners were great to deal with and promptly answered all of the questions that I had prior to our stay. We rented the house for 9 nights and it was everything we expected and more. The location is great, it's very well stocked cooking supplies and a great open floor plan. They keep the house very clean and the neighbors are quiet. There were elk hanging out in the driveway in the evenings and plenty of opportunities to view more wildlife being close to the rim. I'd highly recommend this house for an easy and quiet getaway into the woods.
We enjoyed staying at this home immensely. We loved watching the numerous different birds out the window at breakfast and enjoyed the bbq and firepit at night. The stars were amazing.
The location was perfect for so many different activities. The mountain views were breathtaking. We went hiking and fishing and stopped by the fish hatchery and fed the fish as well. We even had to stop by a veterinarian and was surprised to find one less than 30 minutes away.
The home is comfortable and a great size for our family of 6. Beds were all comfortable and there were plenty of towels for everyone. It was so nice to be able to cook meals that we brought with us and to sit at the big table and eat together. You can't always do that while on vacation.
The owners were easy to work with and are amazing and kind people. We'll be going back as soon as we can! Absolutely loved everything about our stay and can't wait to experience more of the things there are to do out there.
The house and views were amazing! Enough space for the five of us to relax and play inside, without tripping over each other. Location was close enough to other touristy spots in the area, that we didn't feel like we were driving all day. Went to the Tonto Fish Hatchery and Tonto Natural Bridge! Great places to take the kids. The house was great with all the necessary amenities. Only complaint was that the backyard had tall grass and weeds from the recent rains, that the kids didn't want to play outside without fear of getting eaten alive by mosquitoes. Otherwise, the home was everything we needed plus more! Vickie even contacted us to make sure everything was going well, which was a nice addition to the already great customer service they had provided. We are already talking about when we can come back and stay here again! One last thing - cleaning checklist to get the security deposit back... we had no problems with this at all! We were able to go through the list quickly, and it really wasn't hard to do. In fact, we got notice of our security deposit refund within two weeks! Really nice since we were under the impression it would take at least 30 days. Vickie & Shannon, thank you for opening up your place to us! We can't wait to do this again!
I can't say enough about this wonderful home, and the owners. We had everything we could want, quiet, a beautiful view, a beautiful house with a giant comfortable bed, a big living room with a tv, and the softest carpet I have ever walked across barefoot. This home was very clean and had all the amenities. Thank you so much Vickie and Shannon, you were a such a joy to deal with.
Just a few miles from fish hatchery, on site ATV trails, 52 mile Highline Hiking Trail and National Park's, 20 minutes to cinemas, shoping, restaurants, antique stores and much more!
