The resort grounds are well groomed with a 30x60 hot spring pool, sauna and two hot tubs which are heated by the natural hot springs & fire pit near the pool. The geothermal heating from the natural artesian hot springs heats the entire property (130 degree F and 200 gpm). There is a heliport with a heated pad as well as a 1600-square-foot hanger and a seven-car garage with outside parking for 30+ cars. Fishing, hunting, skiing, summer and winter recreation abound. There are beautiful mountain views even though it is tucked away for solitude and privacy. The resort property has a paved drive from the county road and is adjacent to forest service and state land. This historic property holds the Legend of the Sleeping Child.
The beauty of this hot springs was first discovered by the Nez Perce Indians in the 1870's. Chief Joseph of the Nez Perce led his tribe out of the reservation and through the Lolo Pass into the Bitter Root Valley. In pursuit of Chief Joseph and his people were General Howard and a group of soldiers. Trying to avoid a confrontation, Chief Joseph split his tribe into smaller groups.
One such group traveled through what is now Sleeping Child Creek and, facing a possible battle, they left their infants by the hot springs. When they returned, the infants were safe and peacefully sleeping, protected by the natural hot springs. Thus, Sleeping Child Hot Springs was named.
Onsite recreation include; fly fishing, hiking, mountain biking, swimming, billiards, snooker, ping pong, horseshoe pits, shuffleboard, BBQ, hot tub lounging, Croquet, Bocce Ball, fire pit, big screen TV, music, dancing, nature & sky watching.

We welcome all age groups, but pets are not allowed. Sorry. This is a no smoking facility, but, if you must smoke, our hosts will provide smoking areas for you to enjoy outside the main building, just let them know.
We hope you will discover the joy and excitement that we who live in the Bitterroot Valley have known for years. It’s certainly no secret that this is “The Last Best Place”
We welcome you to stay with us soon, and discover what you can’t read in books or see in pictures. And we know, you’ll be back.
As a child, I grew up nearby, frequently visiting the springs, and when they became available, I purchased them for sentimental, historical and investment value. It's private pristine natural setting are alluring to all who visit.
This 40 acre estate is great for family or company parties, corporate retreats, and to just decompress from the pressures of life. The roof top solarium is perfect for star gazing as there is no ambient light to disturb the night skies. Winter is especially beautiful in a warm pool surrounded by snow, tucked in a box canyon protected from moving air, with fire pit and sauna nearby. Words don't capture the feeling of serenity this private hidden site provides. Perhaps the natives before me who used this site to protect their families could.
Thank you very much for helping our group keep the gathering that Patti Furniss had originally set up with you. It was a really special time and a good place to recall wonderful memories.
You two are wonderful hosts and so much appreciated. I hope that you have a wonderful spring, summer, and fall and that we will see you both again next February - ish.
Becci - I don't know how you keep that place clean. Seriously. I look around and there isn't a speck of dust or greasy window anywhere. I kind of want to take a class from you in hopes I could do a better job on my house!
Cheers and THANK YOU - THANK YOU!!!!

My family and I have rented homes/lodges/cabins all over. This home was unique with the hot springs pool and hot tubs. The home is large enough that a big group can still feel they have plenty of space. The surrounding area is beautiful in every direction.. The hosts are sweet and helpful.
After many years of family vacations, this would be the first place that the experience here could bring us back... We are always wanting to try new places but Sleeping Child will defiantly be a place that needs to be repeated....
It is relaxing, peaceful, and a great place to reconnect with friends and family.
Thank you so much Becci, to you and your husband. We appreciated everything.... Sandy
The best attraction is the natural hot water with a large enough pool to swin laps, float, and gaze at a beautiful canyon around you. I could not get enough time in the water, which seemed even more special was that it snowed the entire time making it magical. To top it off I was with 9 great friends to enjoy their company. The kitchen on the main floor was large enough that we all could cook together. The rooms are large and comfortable. I highly recommend it and can hardly wait to return!
This may be the most amazing place I have ever stayed! The large pool is very warm and wonderful even in -10 weather. The hot tubs are super toastie! The house is huge and well laid out. Aaron and Becci were awesome hosts. I can't wait to come back!!
Thank you so much to Aaron and Becci for seeing us through such a grand weekend!
Our stay at Sleeping Child Hot Springs was exceptional. We stayed for a week in July with 14 adults and 5 children (ages 4 months - 7 years) for a family reunion, and everyone agreed that the location was absolutely amazing.
With 9 bedrooms (each with private bath) and 25,000 sq feet of space, there was ample space for all of us. In addition to being spacious, the lodge itself is so unique and wonderful. There was almost always someone enjoying our private access to the hot springs pool. All of our guests kept marveling at the beauty of the location and the view from each of the large bedrooms.
Becci and Aaron (the caretakers at Sleeping Child Hot Springs) were wonderful hosts. They were always available when we needed them, but disappeared when they perceived we wanted privacy. They both went out of their way to ensure that our stay was comfortable, suggesting and assisting with arrangements for fun activities for the kids and adults alike. We rode horses along Sleeping Child Trail (just outside the property), stargazed, fished in Sleeping Child Creek, rafted the Bitterroot, and enjoyed several nights of bonfires by the pool. To top it all off, Becci’s daughter happened to be one of the most attentive and engaging babysitters we have ever had, allowing the adults in our group to relax and enjoy the trip even more.
The location of the lodge is remote enough to escape completely from the sounds and lights of civilization, but still just a 25 minute drive to Hamilton for supermarkets, pharmacies, etc. Internet service is available at the lodge, but gets easily overwhelmed by a large party, so plan to access the internet a little less frequently than usual. There is no cell phone coverage, however there is a landline that we were able to make use of. We also brought along some long-distance walkie talkies.
Although we visited during an unusual heat wave, the lodge stayed relatively temperate even during the heat of the day, and at night cooled off quickly with ceiling fans and open windows letting in the cooling nighttime air. The laundry facilities were very nice and met our needs perfectly. The kitchens were nice and between all of them there was lots of fridge space for our food and beverages. The bar area was perfect for stocking snacks etc.
We had an amazing time at Sleeping Child Hot Springs, and would not hesitate to recommend this unique, amazing location to anyone looking for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. We hope to visit again!
