Our family just fell in love with this sunset view from the deck! We find this cabin to be a very relaxing and calming change from our usually hectic lives, and love to get away when we can. Hope you will enjoy this mountain cabin as much as we do!
The Owner purchased this cabin in 2011
The property is clean and spacious. It has a nice, roomy kitchen, It is only five minutes off of Rt 50-the main thoroughfare through this part of West Va. It is near outdoor fun on the cacapon river and the south branch potomac river. While only five minutes away-from the highway it seems worlds away perched high on top of an isolated mountain ridge with a private lane in a gated community. It was great to walk on the lightly travelled access roads nearby and see 35 deer in one evening. No Wi-fi or TV-but only a few minutes from the library Wi-FI is in town. The owner is very accomodating. Nice little restaurant for breakfast-Belle Mountain on 50 five minutes away. Enjoyed our stay.
We are a family of four and a dog. The cabin is very well maintained and has lots of convenient kitchen features. (condiments, sandwich bags, tin foil) Only thing I would recommend was a better marker and or directions for finding the cabin in the dark. We arrived on a rainy, foggy night and had a very hard time finding the place. Probably wouldn't be difficult if there hadn't been any fog. (directions could include the exact milage to the cabin) A table for four would be a great addition but we made due with the bar type seating. Loved the movies and extra homey features! Thank you for the wine!
Great place, nice view. The Community Lake is very beautiful. Capon bridge has all the commodities if needed (dollar store, Family store, wine at the gas station...). Berkeley Spring is about 45 minutes away.
The cabin is very nicely furnished, well organized - it's a great place. There is largely enough space for 2 couples + an additional couch if needed (though it may become crowded at 6 people). The cabin was fresh in summer - everything is there to make it warm and cosy in winter too. A perfect place for a getaway and we really enjoyed our stay. We are thinking of coming back as it is very convenient.
The owner is very kind and understand one's contrains - it was a pleasure dealing with her.
One small caveat on the "spa-like" bath, which is a regular bath in a very nice room.
My sisters and I wanted a relatively simple place to gather as a change of lifestyle and to have time for conversation and family bonding. This cottage was perfect for that. Located far enough out of Capon Bridge to be isolated from modern day noise, there was little else to do except to talk, walk and appreciate the distance from the busy cities. The cabin has some nice pluses like the comfortable outdoor furniture for the deck and artsy-crafty decorations to give it a home-like feel. Even the occasional chatter of the donkey and the rooster down the road were a part of the "getaway atmosphere". A table that seats 4 would be a nice addition even though there's not a lot of room for it.
All in all, your cottage filled the bill between a hotel room and an upscale larger home. A good time was had by all!
All the good aspects were as advertised, which was great. The only trouble was the driveway was plowed in--about 6-8 inches. We had to hike our gear an eighth of a mile in the dark to the cabin. Our car would have blocked the road in front of the cabin. Not sure if we could be reimbersed for this effort, but it would be nice, as we also had to pay $150 for a tow truck to haul our gear out & pull our car off the connecting road where it got stuck so we had a place to park that would block that road. The snow which caused this appeared days before our arrival--plenty of time to clear & prepare it for their guests.
We started out just needing a place to stay within 'commuting distance' of WVU's Reymann Memorial Farm. By finding this wonderful property, we ended up with a blissful getaway from the DC area grind. Rain or shine, the cabin was a restful place to be, with absolutely everything we needed.
Property has access to community lake perfect for swimming and fishing. Public access to scenic Cacapon River nearby off Cacapon River Rd. Beautiful countryside surrounded by mountains.
