Welcome to wild, wonderful, West Virginia! This 5-acre plus property, located in the gated community of Timber Mountain, is your ideal rental for a family vacation, couples, or even for a getaway with your group of friends. Experience the panoramic mountain views from the large deck and breathe in the pure air. Wake up to the gorgeous views as all the rooms open into the long deck from their own french doors!

As you enter the cabin you will find custom log seating, comfortable furnishings and immaculately done rooms. Let go of all worries as you unwind by the wood stove in the family room or take a relaxing bath in the 'spa' themed master bathroom.

The main living area is an open floor plan with a modern, fully equipped kitchen, cooking utensils, and spice rack provided so you can cook up your favorite meal even away from home! Or if you would rather eat out there are many options (Homestyle American, Mexican, Pizza, Cafe) within 5 to 10 miles from the cabin.

Capon Bridge Public Library which is only 5 miles away near the Bridge in town has Wireless Hotspot available free of charge. They also have laptops and printers that you can use, should you need to catch up on some work while away.

All rooms are fitted with ceiling fans to keep you cool in summer and baseboard heat to keep you warm and cozy in the cooler months. Change the ambience or create a romantic mood just by adjusting the many recessed lighting features throughout the cabin.

The Cabin at Capon Bridge is in the northern Shenandoah Valley near Winchester, Virginia, two hours from downtown Washington DC or Baltimore and only hour and half from Germantown and Frederick, MD. The property has 5 plus wooded acres for exploring and natural rock and flora for you to admire. If you have pets, this is an ideal property for them to explore. Children are more than welcome and will enjoy toasting marshmallows around the fire-pit on a starlit night!

Go hunting at the nearby Edwards Run, only 2 miles from Capon Bridge, where white-tailed deer, turkey, quail, squirrel, rabbit, and grouse hunting opportunities are available in the wildlife management area.

Cacapon State Park and Berkeley Springs State Park are about a 30-45 minute drive from the cabin. Enjoy the natural spring baths, antique stores, restraurants and Berkeley Castle if you do venture out to Berkeley Springs.

For hiking and rock climbing enthusiasts there is the neaby Ice Mountain maintained by The Nature Conservancy where you can explore the unique geology of the area or take guided tours. Or visit the historic site of 'Caudy's Castle' where you can get a private tour of the famous Castle Rock.

For railroad buffs and birdwatchers, the nearby historic Potomac Eagle Scenic Railroad in Romney offers both the ride of a lifetime as well as unique eagle sightings. Maybe catch a Murder Mystery experience aboard the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad, a 32-mile round trip through the valleys and vistas of the Cumberland Narrows.

Our family just fell in love with this sunset view from the deck! We find this cabin to be a very relaxing and calming change from our usually hectic lives, and love to get away when we can. Hope you will enjoy this mountain cabin as much as we do!

a very comfortable, clean place to stay!

We are a family of four and a dog. The cabin is very well maintained and has lots of convenient kitchen features. (condiments, sandwich bags, tin foil) Only thing I would recommend was a better marker and or directions for finding the cabin in the dark. We arrived on a rainy, foggy night and had a very hard time finding the place. Probably wouldn't be difficult if there hadn't been any fog. (directions could include the exact milage to the cabin) A table for four would be a great addition but we made due with the bar type seating. Loved the movies and extra homey features! Thank you for the wine!

Owner's Response: Thanks for your review and feedback! We do take pride in maintaining the cabin well and also appreciate guests who treat the cabin with respect and keep it clean. I have now posted the house number using reflective letters so the property is clearly identifiable even on a dark, foggy, night! Thanks for your suggestion about the table--we're currently looking for a suitable 4-chair dinette set. Also, glad that you enjoyed the DVDs, I just also added several Holiday-themed family movies to the collection for the enjoyment of our guests.

Great place, nice view. The Community Lake is very beautiful. Capon bridge has all the commodities if needed (dollar store, Family store, wine at the gas station...). Berkeley Spring is about 45 minutes away.
The cabin is very nicely furnished, well organized - it's a great place. There is largely enough space for 2 couples + an additional couch if needed (though it may become crowded at 6 people). The cabin was fresh in summer - everything is there to make it warm and cosy in winter too. A perfect place for a getaway and we really enjoyed our stay. We are thinking of coming back as it is very convenient.

The owner is very kind and understand one's contrains - it was a pleasure dealing with her.

One small caveat on the "spa-like" bath, which is a regular bath in a very nice room.

A getaway, plus

My sisters and I wanted a relatively simple place to gather as a change of lifestyle and to have time for conversation and family bonding. This cottage was perfect for that. Located far enough out of Capon Bridge to be isolated from modern day noise, there was little else to do except to talk, walk and appreciate the distance from the busy cities. The cabin has some nice pluses like the comfortable outdoor furniture for the deck and artsy-crafty decorations to give it a home-like feel. Even the occasional chatter of the donkey and the rooster down the road were a part of the "getaway atmosphere". A table that seats 4 would be a nice addition even though there's not a lot of room for it.
All in all, your cottage filled the bill between a hotel room and an upscale larger home. A good time was had by all!

Plowed In

All the good aspects were as advertised, which was great. The only trouble was the driveway was plowed in--about 6-8 inches. We had to hike our gear an eighth of a mile in the dark to the cabin. Our car would have blocked the road in front of the cabin. Not sure if we could be reimbersed for this effort, but it would be nice, as we also had to pay $150 for a tow truck to haul our gear out & pull our car off the connecting road where it got stuck so we had a place to park that would block that road. The snow which caused this appeared days before our arrival--plenty of time to clear & prepare it for their guests.
Owner's Response: We are really sorry to know of the difficulty you encountered accessing the cabin. However, this is the first time this problem is being brought to our attention even though we have a contact number listed on the VRBO website as well as in the cabin itself. The situation was unfortunate though because the company that plows our driveway advised to wait until Saturday (your arrival day) as more snow was expected then. However, when we called them on Friday they informed us that because they also work for the state they were busy clearing the main roads and could not come until Monday to remove the snow. Again, sincere apologies for the inconvenience but with the limited resources available in a small town, there was nothing we else could have done. But we are glad to know that you found the cabin to your satisfaction in all other respects.

We started out just needing a place to stay within 'commuting distance' of WVU's Reymann Memorial Farm. By finding this wonderful property, we ended up with a blissful getaway from the DC area grind. Rain or shine, the cabin was a restful place to be, with absolutely everything we needed.
