ASK ABOUT PONTOON RENTAL WITH THIS HOUSE (EXTRA FEE)
I grew up in Atlanta and spent many summers on the lakes of N. Georgia. After living in VA, NH and NJ (twice), I finally moved back south with my wife to raise our family in a slower paced environment. It wasn't too long after that we first visited Lake Lure and fell in love. We knew we had to find a place on the lake and a short while later we bought Lullwater Cottage.
Susan McGowan purchased this cottage in 2006
We loved the views from the decks, the shear beauty of the lake and the peaceful location on our quiet little cove.
This was our 3rd trip to LL. However, our 2015 trip will not include this cottage or the rental company (RC) that manages it. This cottage has a lot of age, a lot of deferred maintenance, was not thoroughly cleaned, landscaping was unkempt and was not fit to be leased.
The RC was incredibly slow to respond to our concerns. Additionally, they fell short of their “Agent Duties” (NC Statute 42A) to provide the Premises “in a fit & habitable condition”. In fairness, the RC eventually offered a new cottage BUT the options were not reasonably comparable.
This is my opinion & I would encourage readers to thoroughly vet the cottage and the rental company prior booking.
This was our first visit to Lake Lure and we were amazed by the beauty of the lake! The cottage was so cute and clean! We appreciated the decor and felt like we were at home. The cottage looks small online but the layout of the cottage is great and roomy. The only disappointment was when we booked the cottage we were assured we would be able to rent the pontoon boat for the week, but 2 weeks prior to arriving we were informed the boat still was not ready. We were very disappointed and had to rent a boat from another company for only 3 days and it was quite expensive. When visiting Lake Lure, I highly recommend you have access to a boat the entire visit. But, I have to say the cottage does offer canoes, paddleboat, floats, and fishing gear which definately was wonderful! Our teenagers had a blast! We enjoyed an excursion at Zipline Adventures which was an awesome experience. I would definately recommend the Lullwater Cottage and would love to visit again. Lake Lure is gorgeous and so relaxing!!! Thank you for sharing your home with us!!!
